“Great place for the young ones!! Quiet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

First off, we are Marriott Vacation Club owners and have stayed at several resorts over the years. Our expectations are high for their properties and they seldom disappoint. We read the many other reviews before booking and knew what to expect. That said, this was a great resort just as we have come to expect. First off, it's small compared to most other MVC resorts but well kept. No the furniture in our villa was not new but it was very clean and comfortable. The staff worked really hard to get us a room after driving all night and arriving at 9 am completely wiped out. After about 3 hours, the front desk called my cell phone to let me know our room was ready. We needed 2 port-a-cribs which they found and brought over pretty quickly and helped our daughter get them set up and put on the clean sheets. The even brought over a gift for my wife on her birthday. There were plenty of activities for mainly smaller children which was perfect for us. We found Seltzer park beach, the public beach with free parking only about 10 minutes away. It was perfect for our crew of grandchildren, 6, 5, and 2-2's. We could drive over in the morning, beat the crowd, enjoy the beautiful beach for 2-3 hours and then back to the resort. The children really spent lots of time in the pool. The resort being smaller was ideal for us. Made it easy to keep up with the children. They also enjoyed ping pong, basketball, shuffleboard, and the putting green. My 2 grandsons and I ventured out and around the golf course toward the lagoon and found crabs, rabbits, and lots of birds to look at. The grocery store and everything you need is close but you certainly need your own transportation to get where you need to go. Beachfront road is not that far but you do have to drive to get there. It made our trip really enjoyable as it was as quiet as we wanted it to be. If you want the most quiet rooms request higher floors and at the end. Close to the pool can be a bit noisy. All in all a really enjoyable experience for us but we knew pretty much what to expect.

Room Tip: For quiet ask for a higher floor with a room toward the outside end.

So glad we found this place for an overnight stay with the kids. Our villa was spacious and clean. Don't go expecting it to be on the beach, because it's not. Our kids had no compliants, though, as they loved the pool and had a great time with the oversized chess set. We also had fun in the enormous hot tub and playing ping pong.

This hotel is NO resort! It is NOT on or near the beach, the only water nearby is a messy lagoon. We were so disappointed there was no shuttle to restaurants, the ocean, grocery stores or anything. We had to bicycle everywhere we wanted to go. While the staff were somewhat helpful, this was the worst Marriott experience we have ever had. Such a disappointment. Unless you want to stay on site and golf every day, you better have a car and be able to get yourself around.

The 2 bedroom villas were so comfortable....like being at home. The bed linens and furnishings were excellent. There was no concern about cleanliness and the kitchen items provided for our stay were of high quality. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, residential quality of the location and at the same time appreciated the closeness to whatever activities we desired to do......beach, dolphin tours, jet skis, shopping, on and on. One caveat.....the pool is not as large as it might appear in the photos. It is very suitable for young children as it has a substantial zero-entry area and is no more than 5 feet deep. And the 5 foot depth area is very small. But you probably won't spend much time at the pool. There is so much to do if you are so inclined.....from golf to fishing to jet skis to paddle boarding. Or just hang out at the usual places that spring up at tourist spots like Destin and Panama City Beach.

We stayed in the 2 room 2 bed villa. It was very luxurious. It is a wonderful escape from the suffocating strip. My only complaint is the shower in the master bath was VERY claustrophobic. Overall it was a great place to stay and I would choose to stay here again in a heart beat.

My husband and I recently spent a week at the Legends over the 4th of July. The condo was well appointed and the pool area was was nicely arranged with a large spa area. The grounds had restaurants within walking distance. They had a enjoyable list of activities for families to enjoy. The one thing I didn't like was the long drive into the area that contained all the various timeshares and rental properties. Panama City still has a lot to do about all the old nasty parts of their city. The beaches are lovely, but the buildings by the beaches need to be cleaned up. Close to the Marriottt there is a nice new development called Pier Park. This is the nice area to go to for families. Shopping, restaurants, and beaches were all available at Pier Park.

Room Tip: We were in the Bluebell Building room 3204. We were on the 3 rd floor and thought it was perfect. Th...

When the term 'vacation Resort', is used to define a vacational property, be careful that the term sticks -literally- to the content. There is only one pool for several buildings. The pool size is not large, neither deep, so when the day temperature raises the water temperature becomes uncomfortably warm. If you are looking to be refreshed in that pool, be aware in advance that most likely it isn't going to happen. Talking about the bar, there is again, -literally- a small gazebo with a bartender selling some limited variety of drinks. It didn't look as a bar at all. It reminded me to the Charlie Brown' cartoons when Lucy, on the characters, appeared selling lemonade on her stand with a sign saying '5 cents lemonade'.

The property ambiance is quiet, so for relaxation is very good. For going to the nearest beach you need to drive your car and go to a public beach like 15 miles from the hotel or also another option is to rent some pontoon at the marinas around. It will take you to the beaches within Gran Upper Lagoon, not open sea.

If you are a golf player the resort will be really magic for you. For the 'care nothing about golf' (like us) the property does not offer anything besides golf.

There is no restaurant services within the hotel, but there are a lot of option between 5 to10 miles away from the property. Publix and Kroger are less than 3 miles for the property, so cooking in the unit is great option. Ah! The property has no 4 unit available. It is all about 8 .

We've have been told that the entire area was all Marriott but at some point they decided to sell it and kept this property which looks it got shorted. In the same street there is Wyndham (with two or more pools) and the Marina. The Wyndham has restaurants and formal bars within the property.

Coming back to the Marriott, we learned the units at the Bluebell building were recently renovated. The interior of our unit was in great shape. They have new infrared grills which were not 100% in great shape.

We had an issue with the entrance door of our unit on Monday June 30, which was not efficiently handled by the chief engineering ( Fred) until Wednesday, July 2. We booked a hotel tour to the Lagoon and we were on our way to leave. One of the kids in our group forgot his goggles and tried to come back to our unit and. couldn't get in because the door was locked. We went to the reception asking for help to open the door. Someone from the reception came with us to the room and tried to open it with the master key. They could not do it. We left the hotel without the goggles and that really made me upset. (The child has 6 diopters so the goggles were very much needed to have it) on our way to the marina I called the chief engineering and ask for a solution while reporting the incident because at the reception they said the situation must be transferred to this Department. Fred, the chief engineering was not very collaborative neither apologetic. He refused that something could be a non resolved issue since Monday and insisted his team handled it everything well. My point was, the door is locked, I can't get in, I am taking a child to snorkeling without his specialized goggles for his vision and his answer was completely unacceptable.

We made the tour and came back to the hotel. My husband stopped at the reception and nobody knew anything if the situation because nothing was annotated. At this point, my husband spoke to the general manager the day after because he was not in the property when we came back at 6 pm. The day after we received an apology, the fixed the lock's door and gave us a courtesy bottle of White wine.

Overall review, we had a good vacation week. Considering Marriott Resort Vacation properties, we think it will be long time for us or maybe never to come back.
