Beachbreak By The Sea

The Beachbreak by the Sea has a great location right on the beach. It was a bit cool in February, but they have an inviting heated pool and a spa. There is a very nice factory outlet shopping centre about 5 minutes away. I found the staff to be very friendly and they had a free continental breakfast. The room was a bit dingy and could use some updating, but it was very good value for what I paid. I used a coupon from a highway rest stop to get a great price.

Room Tip: Ask for oceanside room. Great sunset view.

The price was median compared to other gulf front motels. Was thinking I was going to get middle of the road value. I was wrong. The motel is older and shows it bad. All of the stucco is moldy and cracked. The staff that checked us in was rude and was spouting information to us so fast we had to ask her repeatedly what she said. The door to our room would not shut without major force. Room was old but clean. The railing on the balcony was loose! The faucet in the bathroom was installed majorly crooked. There were two tvs and only one remote and remote wouldnt work for either. Had to call front desk to get code to program it ourselves and they didnt bring another remote until the next day! The pool and hot tub smelled like dirty feet and was so cloudy you couldnt see halfway to the bottom. The layout of the place is not ideal. We had to have someone from the front desk walk us to our room cuz we couldnt find it. Getting things to and from the room was a nightmare. The beach was nice but this place really ruined this trip for us.

Don't even think of staying here on business, but if you're here for Spring Break, Biker Week, or just some r&r with the kids, it might be okay. Rooms are clean. Staff is acceptable, if not gracious, and location is great. Just realize that, when it comes to this place, you get what you pay for. And if you book on Expedia, they give you a room facing the noisy street, not the ocean. Front desk staff is not empowered to make any accomodations without management approval. Where's the manager? Nobody knows.
No business center.
No free wifi in rooms. Only in lobby.

This hotel has super sized rooms, we got one with two beds and a pull out sofa. It has a bedroom that closes off to the rest of the hotel room for privacy. The first day when we checked in we noticed the toilet was leaking and not secure to the floor, it rocked, they promptly repaired it. The second day was fine, no problems except for the band they had on the beach right outside the room played loudly until after midnight on the Friday and Saturday nights that we stayed, it would have been good to be warned ahead of time so we could decide if we wanted to be "entertained" so late with "older music. The third day we were there our room was not cleaned, so we were out of towels, tissue etc. and had to take the soiled towels to the office to be replaced...a discomfort and unwelcome surprise upon getting to our room. Fourth day the toilet overflowed, flooded the bathroom. It was like that for a while until my husband made the trip to the office to get a plunger and so it himself. Continental breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, plain bagel and muffins. No cereal or milk.... would have been a nice addition, although the muffins were individually wrapped, large and tasty. Staff was not friendly, the only one who seemed "nice" was the housekeeping manager who apologized for not cleaning our room the day before. Oh the reason they skipped our room was because they had so many checkouts that day....seems like they would at least take care of those of us who were staying, not already gone.

When I first arrived I knew we had screwed up, The lady was extremely rude. They had extra hidden cost upon arrival. We were treated as if we were two years and not grown women all of age 21 or above. The hotel was terrible, the toilet kept running, the shower changed temperatures, the room stunk, and the air conditioner only worked when it felt like it. The management was extremely rude and disrespectful. The would not change our sheets and when requested, told us we could come get some sheets and change them ourselves. The took our towels and would only give us 2 at a time when we clearly paid for four people. Worst hotel I've stayed in. Run and tell others to run too!! BTW the location was so far from were the beach activities were for Spring Break.

I stayed here during Spring Break peak week in March 2011 and it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!!!
The linens and carpet are stained and "smelly" ---->Bring your own if you do decide to stay here.
All of the wood in the room is warpped and the furniture is falling apart. The bathroom and kitchen are completely disgusting; The rusty faucets are falling off and the walls that have water running through them are water stained and mildewy (if that is a word).------> Don't use their dishes or appliances and if at all possible bring your own and bathe in the gulf.

*POSITIVES*
Although the hotel's negatives outweigh their positives, the positives include: an excellent balcony view from all of their rooms, a heated pool, cable (though the tv's are the old boxy ones) and ok staff.

***** If you are going for the college spring break atmosphere this hotel is far from all of the action (don't fall for the, " we are right across the street from Gulf World (even though they are that is the only thing they are near)" and when travelling to the southeast side of the "strip" on Frontbeach Rd (during spring break), where all of the action is, traffic is a BEAST!

Awful room and hotel for a way too expensive price. Cheated my group out of our deposit by adding an extra night without our knowing. Had to buy sheets from WalMart because the ones provided were stained. Bathroom was VERY unclean - fingernail was found in the corner by the door. Pool and hot tub were absolutely disgusting - hot tub especially was a cest pool of nastiness. Spring Breakers BEWARE!!
