“Great location - good value”
Reviewed 5 July 2011

We just returned from a 4th of July trip to Panama City Beach. Beachbreak by the Sea served our needs perfectly and was a great value. We ended up at this hotel not by choice, but because everything else was sold out. We were NOT disappointed.

The hotel is directly on the beautiful white sandy beach. Yes, the hotel is older, but the rooms were clean and the a/c worked WELL. We stayed in a basic street view room with mini-fridge and microwave. To our surprise, the mini-fridge was a good size (approx. 2 1/2 feet tall) and held lots of drinks. The rooms were quiet. We never heard anyone on either side of us. Beds were a little hard and pillows were somewhat flat, but, again, we weren't expecting a luxury hotel for $119/night. We didn't take advantage of the free continental breakfast, because it is only served from 7-9 a.m. Parking at the hotel is somewhat scarce (overflow is across the street), but we didn't move our car the entire weekend because everything was within walking distance. The Beachbreak location is PERFECT.

Barefoot Beach Club restaurant (directly on the beach) is attached to the hotel. We went there two days for lunch and loved the food. The shrimp club is fantastic! Prices were approximately $10 for sandwiches that include fries. They serve cocktails and have happy hour specials. The only drawback is that they close early (at 10 p.m.) so we never went there in the evenings.

There is an all American diner directly across the street that serves buffet breakfast for $8.99 and a convenience store and souvenir shop right next to that. Sharky's is about 2-3 blocks away and Pier Park is about 1/2 mile from hotel (I recommend walking the beach). Pier Park has SO many great restaurants and shops. There is a German restaurant/bar that is a lot of fun. They have a 3-man band that really entertains the crowd.

There is plenty of beach space for this hotel (as opposed to some of the high rises that have more rooms). We never had a problem finding a spot, even though all hotels in the area were sold out. The beach service has lounge chairs in front of the hotel, but for the holiday weekend they were charging $35/day.

There is free internet service in the lobby - but not in the rooms.

The pool looked clean, but we did not use it because we were only there for 2 days.

The balconies were small with only one or two plastic chairs on them (not sure a beachfront is worth the extra money). There is no elevator at this hotel, but it's only 4 stories, so the stairs were not a problem for us (and we stayed on the 4th floor). The parking lot is on the 3rd floor, so carrying luggage up the steps wasn't an issue.

Hope this review helps. I am a frequent traveler and think Beachbreak is a good value if you're looking for an inexpensive getaway.

Just returned last night from 3 day stay with son & 7yr old grandson. Read all reviews before booking & decided to judge for ourselves. Yes it's an older hotel that could use cosmetic updating , but our 2 bed/2bath unit was very clean even though quite small & everything worked the way it should. The beach location is great, just steps to the sand. Manager Ricc & his staff very friendly. The pool was the biggest draw for all the kids there, but nothing beats that beautiful sugar sand beach & emerald green water just feet away from your door. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

This is not a fancy hotel but it was very comfortable. All rooms face the gulf and the views are fantastic. More of a family hotel which is great because you never have any noise problems or any kids partying through the night.

The hotel is right on the beach and offers a nice pool. The free breakfast consists of yogurts, bagels and muffins

Compared to other hotels on the strip it is very affordable and the accomodations are comfortable for a good nights sleep

The Beachbreak by the Sea has a great location right on the beach. It was a bit cool in February, but they have an inviting heated pool and a spa. There is a very nice factory outlet shopping centre about 5 minutes away. I found the staff to be very friendly and they had a free continental breakfast. The room was a bit dingy and could use some updating, but it was very good value for what I paid. I used a coupon from a highway rest stop to get a great price.

Room Tip: Ask for oceanside room. Great sunset view.

The price was median compared to other gulf front motels. Was thinking I was going to get middle of the road value. I was wrong. The motel is older and shows it bad. All of the stucco is moldy and cracked. The staff that checked us in was rude and was spouting information to us so fast we had to ask her repeatedly what she said. The door to our room would not shut without major force. Room was old but clean. The railing on the balcony was loose! The faucet in the bathroom was installed majorly crooked. There were two tvs and only one remote and remote wouldnt work for either. Had to call front desk to get code to program it ourselves and they didnt bring another remote until the next day! The pool and hot tub smelled like dirty feet and was so cloudy you couldnt see halfway to the bottom. The layout of the place is not ideal. We had to have someone from the front desk walk us to our room cuz we couldnt find it. Getting things to and from the room was a nightmare. The beach was nice but this place really ruined this trip for us.

Don't even think of staying here on business, but if you're here for Spring Break, Biker Week, or just some r&r with the kids, it might be okay. Rooms are clean. Staff is acceptable, if not gracious, and location is great. Just realize that, when it comes to this place, you get what you pay for. And if you book on Expedia, they give you a room facing the noisy street, not the ocean. Front desk staff is not empowered to make any accomodations without management approval. Where's the manager? Nobody knows.
No business center.
No free wifi in rooms. Only in lobby.

This hotel has super sized rooms, we got one with two beds and a pull out sofa. It has a bedroom that closes off to the rest of the hotel room for privacy. The first day when we checked in we noticed the toilet was leaking and not secure to the floor, it rocked, they promptly repaired it. The second day was fine, no problems except for the band they had on the beach right outside the room played loudly until after midnight on the Friday and Saturday nights that we stayed, it would have been good to be warned ahead of time so we could decide if we wanted to be "entertained" so late with "older music. The third day we were there our room was not cleaned, so we were out of towels, tissue etc. and had to take the soiled towels to the office to be replaced...a discomfort and unwelcome surprise upon getting to our room. Fourth day the toilet overflowed, flooded the bathroom. It was like that for a while until my husband made the trip to the office to get a plunger and so it himself. Continental breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, plain bagel and muffins. No cereal or milk.... would have been a nice addition, although the muffins were individually wrapped, large and tasty. Staff was not friendly, the only one who seemed "nice" was the housekeeping manager who apologized for not cleaning our room the day before. Oh the reason they skipped our room was because they had so many checkouts that day....seems like they would at least take care of those of us who were staying, not already gone.
