I was not able to extend my stay even though I requested it at check-in; the ocean view was blocked by a metal roof in the first assigned room but the staff changed rooms on request (don't let them put you in room 246!); the Deli does not open until 8 am and check-out is at 10, which does not leave for a long time for breakfast and no, it's not complimentary! It would be nice to have some complimentary coffee in the lobby. Yes, I know I have a coffee pot in the room but this is a "resort". Be prepared for elevator malfunctions...as in...carry your own luggage.

Room Tip: Refuse room 246

Every need was met...Will definitely stay here again.close to attractions. Price reasonable. The seal on our refrigerator door was coming off and when we asked for it to be fixed while we were out...it was. Our bed was very comfortable and the view from our room was amazing. We can not wait to return and hopefully get to stay and enjoy the view and room more!

This was our first time coming to panama, and we decided on sandpiper b/c of all the extra stuff they offer for kids at no extra cost. our boys, ages 3 and 9 LOVED it. being right on the beach is awesome. after reading some of the negative reviews, we were worried about what we would see once we arrived but we were very pleased. but don't go here expecting a 5 star hotel. it's older, and you can tell. but our room was very clean. we stayed in room 680, on the 6th floor. we opted to save $300 and get a room facing the street, but we were at the end of the hall so we walked out the door to the right and the elevator and view of the ocean were right there. our room also had a private balcony, and a kitchen. it was perfect for us. the only thing we didn't like was that there is only 1 elevator that goes past the 3rd floor. so sometimes it would take what seemed like FOREVER to get up or down. our kids loved the water slide. that's really all they wanted to do. the indoor pool and lazy river is kind of lame, and hot and stuffy. not alot of seating. but i guess it's good for when it's raining. we only went in there once the whole 5 days we were there. I seen some of the other reviews talking about renting chairs and umbrellas on the beach. we didn't even bother with that. when we wanted to go to the beach, we just found some empty ones and set up. we just figured we'd move if someone came and told us too. we were also there monday through friday, so it wasn't super packed like i'm sure it is on the weekend. we also loved all the activities they do each day. there was beachside bingo, where they gave away some pretty cool prizes, $3 drink specials, a polynesian dance and fire show, sunset smores, inflatable water slides, a foam pit party and more. we also loved the playground for the kids, and the hammocks were pretty cool too. who doesn't want to lay in a hammock on the beach? overall, it was awesome. if you have small kids, this is the place. i think older kids would probably think the activities are lame though. lol. we would definitely come back!

Room Tip: we loved our room on the 6th floor, but there is only 1 elevator that goes above the 3rd floor so be...

I'm trying really hard to remember why I liked staying here in the past as I sit here in the Tiki Bar too exhausted to trek up 6 flights of stairs yet again today. Elevator is out again today. We arrived late yesterday. We had reservations. First room was disgusting and smelled REALLY bad. It also was right beside the front pool full of loud screaming people. Back down we went and requested an upgrade, which we gladly payed for. Hence we ended up in the building we're in now. The elevator worked fine on the way up. When I tried to go back down later to use the coin operated laundry it was out of order. I had to lug 2 bags of dirty & damp clothes down 6 flights of stairs to be told by the teenager working I couldn't do my laundry because she was only waiting on the people who had just finished so she could close. She then proceeded to turn the lights off with me standing there. So back up 6 flights of stairs I dragged my bags, upset all the way.I wanted to write a review then but told myself to wait because I may not be fair having been on the road for the past 2 months. Today however it's not better and I know I'm not being unfair. This is NOT the Sandpiper of the past. There are a few good natured and accomodating workers here. Very few. For the most part they have been rude and uncaring about their jobs. There is NO value shown to the guests. Count this as a service fail @sandpiperbeacon.com.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Luckily we had a good room near the pool for our children to have easy access. I am very thankful that we were not located in the rooms with the indoor pool. The indoor pool area was noisy and stuffy. The walkway between the pool area and rooms was pretty nasty with cigarette butts and trash on the wet ground with people running around barefoot. We did not stay in that area for long. I think that was the worse area in the resort, although many people were in that pool, which also had the lazy river (don't waste your time in the lazy river! People were walking in the lazy river and there are not flotation rings like in most lazy rivers!) The room was clean, and we had plenty of towels, but always needed more toiletries. The proximity and easy access to the beach was wonderful. The Tiki Bar provides plenty of seating and easy access from the beach to help cool off and get out of the sun, while still being nearby and able to see the beach. We had a 2-room suite, which had a kitchenette. The fridge was a good size, but the stove was very outdated and although it was clean, it looked very used. The carpet was clean and the rooms smelled ok. The rooms are very basic and they are not like newer hotels or condos, but they were comfortable ad clean. During peak check-in check-out times, they had several staff members were located in different areas to help out. I do wish they would have had some workers going around occasionally to pick up trash that others were leaving behind. The first day by the kids' pool, there was so much trash and cigarette butts left on the ground that it was disgusting. The next morning everything was cleaned up and ready to go, but during the day, it would be great to have workers go around and sweep up trash left behind by others.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would return again. I would make sure to request the same room, as we liked where it was located. Although the rooms were not cheap during the peak season, they are reasonable. They offer daily activities, even free watermelon, that can keep the kids busy at certain times. The food on the resort at the snack bar was good, but across the street, the restaurant was over priced and not too good. We had breakfast there one morning and the food was not impressive. Don't order the scrambled eggs if you like them fluffy, because all we got were well-done eggs that cut up in pieces.

You can rent chairs for $25-30 a day, which at 5 o'clock they come over and remove the umbrellas and cushions. We were still enjoying the beach at that time, and we could have stayed there longer. They even woke up my husband from his nap instead of moving down the beach and coming back to him later. We paid $30 and only had them from noon to 5pm. We also rented the paddle board for $25 for an hour. The kids enjoyed doing that. They also have boats and kayaks for rent.

My sister has gone there after peak-season, and the rates are very good and they still offer lots of amenities. We are looking forward to going after peak-season.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the indoor pool---very loud. Beach front on the first floor are the best.
