“A beautiful State Park”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Blackwater has a little something for everybody. The Blackwater River, and Coldwater Creek are super for canoeing and there are outfitters that are eager to help you get going. There is a series of zip lines that take you over some really pretty parts of the park. There are some cabins that have a wide range of comfort levels and sizes, depending on your interest. There are also lots of bridle, biking and hiking trails throughout the park. Horses are allowed and there is a facility there for them as well. I have personally not taken horse there but know folks who have and they said it was great. I highly recommend this park as a day trip or for extended stay!

“Canoe Paddler's Heaven”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Renting a canoe and paddling the coldwater or blackwater are not to be missed. Take the long or the short trip. Easy for novice or experienced paddlers. Or, just rent an inner tube and float down the river. Take a picnic lunch for stops at numerous sandbars along the way.

“Wonderful Picnic Area for Family Gatherings”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

This is a yearly family reunion we attend. And it is great place to meet with Picnic Pavilions and everything needed for an outdoor
meal with a large group.

“Coldwater Creek is Family Friendly”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

The western most tributary of the Blackwater River is The Big Coldwater Creek. It is so family friendly. The water is a perfect depth for wading and at every bend is a deeper swimming hole next to a sandy beach. The spring fed stream is refreshing in the summer, and perfect for canoeing, kayaking and swimming.Coldwater Creek is shallow enough to keep motor boats out.It also is very clear so you can comfortably see the bottom. It is also fun to snorkel .The Quartz sand beaches are a great place to stop and picnic too.

“Lots of fun! I would do it again anytime”
Reviewed 23 May 2013

We rented a canoe instead of tubing because someone mentioned that there were water snakes in the river. I spoke to three people on the river who said they had been tubing the river for 5 or more years and have never seen anything. Totally beautiful and totally safe. One of the highlights of our trip. Beautiful Sandy bottoms and sand bars add to the beauty.
