“Greatness comes from Milton, Florida”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

Check out the Blackwater River Restaurant and Wine Tasting Area for a taste of excellence in Milton, Florida (the South's modern Mayberry RFD!!!) The Veterans Memorial near the Promenade (Carriage Rides) is outstanding. Buy a brick for the Veterans in your family! Known for its canoes, hunting, and trails -- the Blackwater River brought wealth and prominence to Milton as a major lumbering area that served all the way to ports in Texas. Little wonder that this became an excellent boating, navy, and family area. See the Dragonfly Art Gallery, the Jaxx Cafe, and more in this quaint part of Florida. Pick your own blueberries, taste homemade chai tea, and enjoy all the Southern charm the generations have preserved. Today, check out the future NFL players that graduate from Milton High. Greatness does come from little Milton, Florida. Don't miss it! People even drive with courtesy and kindness. Move over Sheriff Andy and Oppie.... Aunt Bee could even have competed with the local Church of Christ summer pie-baking contest right alongside the Historic Trail for that early morning jog! If you haven't had homemade blueberry pie, or blueberry cake with whipped cream or ice cream on top -- well, you just haven't lived yet! Don't miss the Blackwater River State Recreation Area, the Promenade, the Restaurant, or Main Street Milton, in general, with its parades, holiday decorations, and gentle Southern charm!!!!! Better yet, put on your favorite pair of jeans and join the fun picking blueberries and making your own delicious creations while visiting this still pristine part of the planet!!!!

“This is a wonderful place for canoeing and camping”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

We came here in January and really enjoyed the sandy bottom river, exotic vegetation and and solitude. It's a great place for a 2 day canoe trip as there are many fine locations to pitch tents on the small bluffs or sandy islands next to the river. It's only an hour or so from the beach, so it's possible to make this into a great side trip if you're visiting the Gulf.

“very good camping spot”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

The sites are clean, level, large and not close to other sites at all. Lots of walking trails and sandy beaches with clear cold water.

“A beautiful State Park”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Blackwater has a little something for everybody. The Blackwater River, and Coldwater Creek are super for canoeing and there are outfitters that are eager to help you get going. There is a series of zip lines that take you over some really pretty parts of the park. There are some cabins that have a wide range of comfort levels and sizes, depending on your interest. There are also lots of bridle, biking and hiking trails throughout the park. Horses are allowed and there is a facility there for them as well. I have personally not taken horse there but know folks who have and they said it was great. I highly recommend this park as a day trip or for extended stay!

“Canoe Paddler's Heaven”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

Renting a canoe and paddling the coldwater or blackwater are not to be missed. Take the long or the short trip. Easy for novice or experienced paddlers. Or, just rent an inner tube and float down the river. Take a picnic lunch for stops at numerous sandbars along the way.
