We got here as most people I believe - we thought Joe Patti's was a restaurant - it's not. There's a small sushi counter and a little deli but it's mostly just a fish market. So we asked about the restaurant and got directed here. All the food is fried but it was delicious. Our server was great, the sweet tea was awesome, and the hushpuppies were SO good. We also really liked the catch of the day. The platter is enough food for two people easily!

We eat here every time we vacation in Pensacola. Great fresh seafood and way more than ample portions. Everything is fried but we knew that ahead of time. Catch of the day is always a good choice and even if its something you haven't heard of, try it. Patti herself was there when we went, making rounds after she ate, checking on people. We went on a day of airshow so it was very busy but it was worth the wait...and well worth the price. (check out hours because they are not open for dinner.) LOVE THIS PLACE!!

We too were a little confused when we arrived - you get the impression that your going to be eating at Joe Patti's, the seafood market. Captain Joey Patti's is on the opposite side of the parking lot from Joe Patti's, - kind of catercorner from the market.

But, a short walk across the parking lot is good for the appetite!

We got there a little after they opened (10:30am) on a Saturday morning, and there were already about 10-12 people there. By the time we ordered, ate our lunch, and left, there were a few empty tables and booths - Captain Joey's fills up fast!

And the reason why it fills up so fast is...?

The food is GREAT!

My beloved wife ordered a shrimp po-boy,french fries, and a side salad. I was hungry and ordered the Capt. Joey Platter (2 crab patties, 6 shrimp, 6 oysters, and the catch-of-the-day - all breaded and fried, plus cole slaw, baked beans, hushpuppies and french fries) which is a tremendous amount of food.

And it is all sooooooo good! The seafood is fried to perfection! Not overcooked and too crispy, not under-cooked and rubbery, but fried perfectly! Crispy on the outside, but still having the taste of fresh seafood, not fry grease. Oysters are fried perfectly - crisp on the outside, but still having that oyster taste inside. Shrimp tastes like shrimp, fish tastes like fish - it doesn't all taste like it's been fried in the same grease!

Plus, the crab patties were best I've ever eaten! Crunchy on the outside, but nice and hot on the inside without being greasy or overcooked like so many are!

The service was fantastic! Our waitress was friendly without being overbearing, and she made sure that our drinks (iced tea) were always full.

My advice is that if you're going there for lunch, get there early. It seems like the closer to noon it gets, the more crowded the restaurant is (duhhhh... :D ). Even though the restaurant had probably another 50-60 people come in after we arrived and ordered, it seemed like they weren't having to wait an inordinate amount of time to get their orders - the kitchen is that fast!

My only complaint is that there is too much food on the Captain Joeys Platter. By the time you eat the fish, oysters, shrimp, and both crab cakes, you're just about full. If you try to eat the slaw, baked beans, hushpuppies, and french fries that come with the dinner, you're so stuffed that all you want to do is lay on a beach chair under an umbrella, have a few cold drinks, and watch the waves splash on the beach - which isn't a bad way to spend an afternoon at all!

Good food, good service, good prices. Highly recommended!

We were a little confused when we arrived, we thought Joe Patti's was where we were going to eat. I wish we weren't at a hotel because the fish at that market and the gourmet foods section all looked AMAZING! But across the parking lot was this little local gem. We were lucky that it was Wednesday, because they had clam chowder....BEST I EVER ATE!!! Now you need to not mind fried foods, cause that's how it's all cooked, but I had the catch of the day basket with cheese grits and hush puppies and it could not have been more delicious! Not overly breaded, incredibly flaky and tasty fish, and it was all fresh! Incredible value! And when you're done head back over to Joe Patti's for some fresh and hot beignets from the stand out front :)

We came at lunchtime on a Saturday. They were packed, but we had a table within 10 minutes. There were 4 in our party and we each ordered something different. They only had gumbo available for the soup selection and it was wonderful. It was served with a scoop of rice and was delicious. We almost licked the cup! We ordered calamari, fish catch of the day (Base), shrimp and oysters, and shrimp and scallops. Each meal was VERY generous in portion size and we almost could not finish what we were served. The wait time for our food was a little longer than we would have liked, since we were all starving, but, considering the packed condition of the restaurant, it was okay. My cheese grits, coleslaw, and baked beans were good, as were the french fries my husband ordered. This was the first time for us to visit Joey Patti's and we left well satisfied. If I had to note anything negative at all, it would be the fact that none of their fresh seafood is offered grilled or steamed. We will be back again!
