We stayed at Purple Parrot over Jan. 1, 2011 for a few days.Got there on New Yr Eve, and was invited to a party at the Tikii Bar. Food was good and 2 bands, 4pm-1am. No though traffic with gated entrance. No Maid service to wake you up,if you sleep late. Loved that part. Everyone was helpful and friendly, both guests and staff. It is not on beach, it is in the forest and quiet, and only about 5-10 min walk to beach. Bunglaloo was like new. Wish we had stayed longer. Next time we will stay longer.

Room Tip: Look at the map, for planning your bungaloo. Some do not have paking at bungaloo.

This resort is great, the accommodation was clean and comfortable, the pool was good particularly for those with families. The tiki bar was friendly with live music, although I didn't try the food.

Went with my fiancee and my mother for a last minute end of the summer getaway. Great pricing for rooms and managed to get exactly what we were looking for and only booked about 10 days before our travel date. The resort is kinda far at the end of the main strip, but close enough to still be able to get into the main sites and restaurants fairly quickly. The close by Johnson Beach National Seashore has beautiful powder fine sand, but if you're not a big fan of avoiding local marine life (crabs, jellyfish, and we even ran into some sting rays) I'd recommend sticking with the Gulf Shores public beaches. They are also beautiful with super fine sand, a bit more populated but not overcrowded, have multiple lifeguards on duty, and you don't have to watch to avoid stepping on Sebastian the crab or something with a bigger bite/sting. We stayed in Slow Mo. Absolutely beautiful with screened in porch, comfy king size bed, and 2 very nice 42" flat screens with cable and dvd players for each. The decor was calm and beachy without being overdone how some places are with palm fronds and neon tropical colors all over. The office staff were all very nice and helpful. Also, you would also see a security guard walking around very often so it felt very safe. The pool was beautiful with an amazing hot tub island in the middle that you could swim to or walk over a bridge. Plenty of lounge chairs, tables, and shade all around the pool if wanted.

Only a few things were even slightly bad and not ones I would consider a deal breaker for going back. The pool is owned by the Tiki Bar (an outside business) and people from off the street who are not staying at the resort can pay to come in and swim, drink, and socialize at the bar area. This wasn't too much of a problem since we stayed during the week and the beginning of off season when schools had just started back, but during peak summer I bet it would be pretty inconvenient. The drinks at the Tiki Bar were crazy expensive. For just a 6oz. frozen mixed drink it would cost upwards of $10. Totally not worth it. As far as our condo I only have two complaints. The sleeper sofa mattress is very thin and uncomfortable. You can feel springs everywhere. We ended up buying an inflatible mattress to put on top of it for more comfort. Also, a previous renter had apparently sat on, or let their kids sit on, the couch while wet and the cushions ended up soaked through and were very smelly from mildew. We let the office know this the first day we were there and although they seemed very concerned and said they would pick the cushions up immediately to be cleaned, they never were. We ran into JD as we were checking out and he said he'd only gotten the message about them the night before. Like I said earlier, not a total deal breaker, but still kinda yuck considering we had to place the cushions away in a far corner so we wouldn't smell them and they stayed there for the duration of our 4 day vacation.

Overall it was a very nice vacation and we'll definitely be going back. We just now know what to look for and avoid regarding the different aspects of our planned getaway.

Room Tip: Definently check on dates for the off season and weekdays. Great prices and less crowded.

Was very excited about our stay here, after many hours researching resorts in Perdido Key/Pensacola area and reading reviews here we decided to book it. JD was very helpful and we had no problems at all. Our unit(Calypso Cabana) was very clean and furnished very nicely. All of the basics were there (laundry detergent, towels, silverware, linens, et al.). Found that being on the first floor close to the pool has advantages (with kids), but if you have noisy neighbors upstairs, could be a problem. The Tiki Bar is very nice and clean, great music at night, nice bartenders, only issue I had was that pool is owned by bar, not condos, and both are open to public. Grounds could be a LITTLE cleaner, but on the whole very nice. Indoor pool/hot tub/gym immaculate! Would definitely recommend to friends or family. We had a great week!

Great place to stay. Nice pool with waterfall. Tiki bar. Prices for drinks and food very reasonable. Very clean inside and out. Great place to stay when in the Pensacola area.
10 mins. from Naval Air Museum which is a must see. Great beaches very close.
WARNING:if you book a condo with a loft, there are NO stairs, it's a very steep and tall ladder. NOT for kids under 12 I'd say.
