Food is served hot and fresh. If you love fish and seafood this is the place to go. Prices are competetive. Will go often.

Chancys has perfectly cooked sefood. doesn't matter if you get it broiled, fried or baked, Coldn't do better at home.Nothing fancy to look at. The food is not served on glass. The appetizer onion rings is the best I ever had. It should tell you something when you pull up to this small place and the parking lot is full and there are peoples sitting outside waiting to get in.

So, you look at this place from the outside, and it looks like a disaster waiting to happen. The only disaster would be passing it by. The food is excellent, and the service feels like your southern Mom waiting on you. Plastic utensils, styro bowls, and paper plates. The quality goes to the food, not the aesthetics. Eat here and you'll understand.

Rid yourself of hesitation and take the plunge. You will be so glad you did. We had catfish that tasted as if they had just been caught and was cooked perfectly. If you are not a REALLY big eater, get the lite portion. We still took home leftovers. Along with the catfish, we had cheese grits, awesome hush puppies and the best turnip greens around. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. She never let my sweet tea cup get below half full. Prices are great, too. My complete meal was only $10.99. Hope this helps someone.

When you see a full parking lot at a seafood restaurant on a Friday evening, you naturally expect good things.
Inside - just like outside - Chancy's is nothing fancy.
Although they were busy, we were seated quickly, and our server was great throughout the meal.
We had deep-fried mushrooms, catfish, shrimp, scallops and a crab cake.
EVERYTHING except the crab cake shared the same tasteless breading that fell off before you could get it to your mouth, and it was obvious everything was prepared in the same oil.
The crab cake was obviously a commercial product that came frozen in a box, and was of a flavored sawdust consistency.
With closed eyes, it would be hard to discern what it was you were eating.
My cornbread came out shaped like 1/2 a brick - and tasted about the same.
I honestly wish I could find something good to report about the food here, but it was all rather unpleasant.
I'll concede it's possible they were having a bad night, but to have more than 6 separate food items ALL so marginal, sounds more like standard fare than a one-time glitch.
