“Tres belle...et tres bon..”
Reviewed 21 November 2012

We enjoyed our appetizers, entrées, and our dessert.
Thelamb Shank was very tender, melt in your mouth. The sauce complimented it nicely, not swimming. The Pepper Steak was also fantastic. Our server was very knowledgeable. He made great beer choice and we will definitely return.

“Marvelous lunch special selection well prepared & presented”
Reviewed 19 November 2012

Their full name is 'The French Place Belgian Bistro'. Having both traveled to Belgium, my sister & I stopped by to look at their menu. The variety & reasonable prices enticed us to go for lunch. We're so glad we did! This was the best of 4 meals we had last week in the Pompano/Lauderdale area. It was so difficult to choose, that we ordered 3 entrees for the 2 of us. For starters their home baked bread was great. The Oysters Rockafeller were 6 oysters on the half shell with a combo of spinach & bacon & topped with a delicious Hollandiase sauce. The seafood crepe is not to be missed! The seafood in it included [at least] little oysters, crab meat, fish & squid. The flavorful sauce was oh so good - rich seafood flavors made with lobster! It was so full & fluffy, it was nearly like an omlet. And how often can you choose a rabbit dish - for lunch no less? So we also had the Rabbit a la moutarde [in a mustard sauce]. It was tender & tasty & accompanied by 1/2 of a baked potato, fresh asparagus spears, carrots & spinach. Everything was excellent including the service. The Belgian flag & art on the walls along with the cusine transport you right to Belgium. Next trip to the area, I will certainly return.

“Exquisite!”
Reviewed 16 November 2012

We visited for lunch and were wowed by the range of interesting choices, the reasonable prices and the welcoming ambience of a small family operation. We wish we could have found it earlier because we may not have time to return ths trip, though I will make every effort. We shared an inventive fish stew dish and a sautéed and marinated snapper. Both were fabulous, and we were well served by the friendly family operating this out of the way place. We loved their creme brulee and thought their lobster bisque was savory without excess richness. Most of the luncheon specials were south of $10, but the preparation, ingredients and presentation were outstanding. We look forward to our return and hope you check them out if you appreciate continental dining and a very pleasant but simple ambience.

“Good food and good value”
Reviewed 10 November 2012 via mobile

Price fixed dinner included appetizer, entree, and dessert and was priced quite reasonably. We were a party of four and we had four different appetizers and four different entrees and all were delicious. There was live French music and numerous Belgian beers and French wines. The restaurant is a little out of the way but is worth the effort to get there.
