As a resident of the neighborhood, I wanted to badly for this place to succeed. However, it comes as no surprise to me that...they're closed again with a sign saying New Owners Coming Soon. I withheld my reviews for the four previous visits because I was hoping it would get better. My first visit was within the first month they opened. The staff although very friendly was poorly trained and had no idea what was going on. When I asked what the hours of operation were going to be, when the kitchen was going to be open, what kind of venue they were going to be, I kept getting the same answer over and over: we're not sure until we see what kind of business we do. With a business plan like that how can you fail right? The second time I went in several months later, again friendly staff. However, with every simple question about the menu my bartender had to run and ask someone else for the answer and it took almost 3 minutes for her to be able to punch my order into the computer. The last time that I placed a take out order I was reading from the online menu and everything that I was trying to order was out of stock. I was told that they were changing the menu again and that they basically only had burgers. The final straw for me was when I called one evening at about 9:3O and told them that I wanted to bring 8 to 10 people from work for food and drinks. I knew they closed the kitchen at 10 PM so I was trying to give an order over the phone so they would not have to stay late and the food would be ready when we got there. The person on the phone informed me that because it was a slow night they JUST decided to close the kitchen early. When I asked if they would be willing to do our order and just keep it under the heat lamp for us I was told "No, I'm sorry they made the decision to close so they're closed". As I work in the restaurant business, I was hoping to spread the word about this place and maybe create more business for them. With inconsistency like that no business will generate a following. Although the owners seemed very nice, they definitely would have benefited from a visit from John Taffer to give them a little direction. RIP Oar House. Just another casualty of war in the restaurant business.
