Off the beaten path, worth the time to find real history about the Port Orange area. Lovely setting, west of I-95, near the famous Spruce Creek Fly-In.

I found this place simply by following the brown and white historical district signs. Tucked away down a winding road appears Cracker Creek (privately owned park). You must go to the desk in order to get into Gamble Place.

Once inside the fence, you see the replica of Snow White's House with the Seven Dwarfs, the Witches home and the mine shaft of the dwarfs (see wikipedia for description and reason why it was built).

A short walk down the trail you see the hunting lodge and all of nature that the earth has to offer. These buildings were all closed up, but you could peak through the windows and still enjoy what it has to offer!

This place only has access on the weekends and it's worth the $2 to take a peak at it. There are signs that describe the buildings and there uses so this can easily be understood as a self walking tour.

Great little park for the kids and family. Gamble and Walt Disney were very good friends and Gamble built Walt a Snow White and 7 Dwarfs house on the property. (Very Cool)
A great place for nature walks to see the resident Peacocks and to explore Cracker Creek.
You can bring a picnic or call ahead to see if the concession stand is open for hotdogs and burgers.

It is unfortunate that the Gamble-Rodgers place is so seldom opened to the public. When it is open we always visit. This 175 acre historic estate was created by Gamble of the Proctor-Gamble empire, and was used as his hunting retreat. For years the Daytona Museum of Arts and Science hosted visitors, conducted tours and held events. However with the collapse of our economy there are too few resources to keep the estate open. Today the museum holds occasional lectures on the house porch, conducts nature tours, and hold other events there. If you are lucky enough to be in the Port Orange area when the events are held, I highly recommend attending, The Gamble Rodgers House property provides a glimpse into old Florida, something so rare today. Located on the property is a 1938 replica of Snow White's cottage (although they can no longer call the cottage by that name due to a Disney' copyright). This is unfortunate. The neighboring "Cracker Creek" business acts as a gate keeper for the property, and to my understanding, will still conduct a tour of the house. This must be verified. The Museum of Arts and Science's URL will provide further information about the Gamble Rodgers Place: http://www.moas.org/gamble%20place.html
