“A garden with weeds growing”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

Port St Lucie Botanical Gardens is not very good in fact it is very poor. This place is typical of what the city does and that is half step. Who ever seen a botanical gradens with weeds growing and not much else? Yet if you want to do wedding photos there it will cost you $50 the place is a rip off

“Worth the stop”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

If you are visiting the Port St. Lucie area it is worth a stop at the Botanical Gardens. The property is beautiful and pretty quick to walk around. They don't charge admission, just recommend a $5 donation so you cannot beat the price. The butterfly garden was pretty, but it was too windy when we were there to see any wildlife. The cacti were in bloom so that was worth the stop. There is a large orchid garden that was also half in bloom. I think this is a great place to stop for lunch as it has a park like feel. This is certainly not an elaborate garden property, but it is a quiet place to visit with nature. I am sure that different times of the year offer more blooms and a unique look. If you are expecting it to feel like sprawling acres of mature plant life like a botanical garden in Kauai you will be disappointed.

“Not the best time to visit”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

We visited the botanical gardens the day before they were having a sale. The efforts were directed to getting ready for this event. We took an elderly friend and she did enjoy walking through the gardens. I believe these gardens are cared for by volunteers. It looked like they could use some TLC.

“Relatively new garden in a beautiful park”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

Kudos to the city of Port St. Lucie for starting this garden in 2010. It is a beautiful place with a lake, picnic tables, benches, paved walkways, and a pavilion--right now it is a lovely park with some developing areas with plants and flowers. If you are going, do not expect it to rival nearby botanical gardens like McKee or Heathcote, both of which have been around for many years. We enjoyed the park atmosphere which is peaceful and serene. Given time this should develop into a very good botanical garden. Admisssion is $5, but they participate in the American Horticultural Society reciprocal program, so membership in one of those gardens allows for free admisssion. There is a schedule of events and programs--jazz some evenings, exercise, etc.

“Three +”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

This nice little Garden is just taking hold. It's worth the stroll and the donation just to help them get their roots in the ground. I would recommend going during the plant sale as there was lots to look at and purchase.
