We visited Babcock on December 28 with our two children aged 4 and 7 and my parents. The tour is billed as an "eco adventure" - ironic since there is not much adventure involved and the ranch's activities (mining, forestry, vegetable growing) are not terribly helpful to the local environment.
The bus ride through a small portion of the property leads to encounters with such dangerous wild animals as cows and pigs. The children got to touch a baby alligator (kept in a box on the bus) and see two caged cougars.
To be fair, we did see a lot of alligators and some herons, the two-block trek through the watery swamp was pretty, and the guide was knowledgable.
However, for $19 per person there are other attractions in the area that are cheaper and more interesting.
