We visited the Military Heritage Museum with our teenage grandchildren today and it was a thrill to see the large collection of US Military Memorabilia. I was very impressed with the presentation and the staff, the only problem was that it was too small! They told me that there is about three times as much memorabilia in warehouses, because they just don't have the space to display. This Museum was FREE but they appreciate any contribution! My teenage grandsons enjoyed the museum as much as did I. Please visit when you are in the Punta Gorda area!

A lot of history to see here... very interesting... and a small gift shop to buy a few things, too

The volunteers at this museum are so knowledgeable and friendly, the museum itself is somewhat small, but really perfect to spend a little time during a vacation to reflect on the military history of our country, even our teenagers enjoyed it.

We visit our vacation home near Englewood a couple of times a year and always make a visit to Fishermans Village - me to visit the museum and the wife to spend money elsewhere!

The displays rotate every few months as I understand they have a lot more items in storage - therefore every visit has something different to see. Space in the museum is a bit tight for everything they try and display at one time so it can feel cramped - this is not a criticism but simply an observation. However, I sometimes wonder if people realise there were other allies in both world wars and the USA in fact arrived late for both - even though they would not have been won without them!

Volunteers are really helpful, knowledgeable and have usually served in the military themselves.

The museum is right at the entrance - so don't walk past and be tempted into the tat shops first!
