We stayed for two nights in April (two rooms). Very friendly at check-in and they allowed us to check in early. Front desk upgraded our room to one that overlooked the water - very nice view and there was a band one night playing at the adjoining park which we were able to listen to from our balcony. It is very true that the hotel needs updating. It is very true that the hotel has some hot water issues. It is very true that this hotel is going through a change of ownership transition which causes confusion at times. However, the bedding and linens were clean, the pool was clean, the room was fairly clean (windows could use some cleaning), the staff friendly, the breakfast better than it was when we were there last in November 2011 and the location is just the best. This place is a hidden gem and hopefully the new owners will address the issues of concern - but in this economy, it will probably be a slow process. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: A view of the water and park is beautiful.

This is definitely the place to AVOID at all costs! The problem: the hotel was DIRTY. So dirty that I put a blanket out on the floor for my baby to play on while in the room - and I made my older son keep socks or shoes on at all times! YUCK.

When we stayed here (March 2012) the hotel had recently been sold and is no longer considered a "Best Western."

We chose this hotel based on price - what a mistake!

this was the worst ever hotel and I would not recomend it to anyone. we booked through aarp expedia and they have not stood behind us. they said due dilegence was done as they contacted the hotel on our behalf and the hotels decision not to refund us part of our 2nd nite stay was the hotels decison and it was final. we were either scalded or frozen in the shower -there was no in between. the 1st nite we thought the rowdys next door were coming thru our walls...the 2nd nite 4 crusiers were there and walking down the hallway where our room was. we though thiings would settle down -but no - same crap. unable to sleep and unable to shower for 2 days. also, water sold out of pop machine. our keys did not work the 2nd day - had to line up to get new ones. a pathetic place -don't stay there.

Room Tip: book elsewhere

Some major chain should really take over this place--it could be so wonderful! The rooms are dingy, my shower did not work, and I had to take a bath instead. The chair in the room had a cigarette burn in in, only two of the light fixtures in the room worked, and they had the cheapest white WHITE fluorescent bulbs in them. Breakfast featured the worst coffee imaginable and a "toaster" that nobody could figure out how to make it work.

On the plus side, the staff was quite nice.

This hotel is right on the Peace River- the views are gorgeous! The staff was very friendly and accomodating. They have free appetizers and drinks at 5:30 each week day. The room was huge! Yes, it could use a bit of updating, but it was clean and comfortable. Did I mention the views??? Also, the pool area is relaxing and waterfront, as well. The free breakfast even offered a nice assortment of hot items.

We needed a place for 5 people for one night, unfortunately, we ended up randomly choosing the most horrible place in Punta Gorda. It's no longer a BW, it's called "Punta Gorda Waterfront Hotel and Suites". I wish we would've read the reviews before getting two rooms here. They have NO working phones in the rooms, and rarely does the one crabby person working up front answer the phone either. So when the nutjob next door was fighting and swearing along with threatening whoever he was with, the only option was to call 911 from our cell. The carpet in the halls are rippled, which is nice for waves in the ocean, but not when you have parents or grandparents (or anybody!) that could trip and get hurt. The restaurant attached is disgusting and overpriced. We were up at 2am with what i assume was food poisoning. The waitstaff is Rude and 3 of their specials "just ran out of that 10 minutes ago".
One of our rooms was a suite with a full kitchen...we put food left over from our rental house in the fridge, Plus a days worth of fresh frozen fish from the days catch the day before in the freezer. Woke up to the freezer dripping water into the fridge and most of the food destroyed including the fish. What a disaster. I agree with previous post - this place should Not be open and needs to be Shut down!!!

Room Tip: Do NOT stay here! You're better off sleeping in your car!
