My husband and I stayed in a Suite last night at PG Waterfront. I can't say enough about how pleased we were. They are newly renovated in several areas. The staff was welcoming, and the room was spacious, warm and welcoming. The views were amazing, and the bed was perfect! It is within walking distance to several restaurants, along with several paths around the hotel to walk along the harbor. I highly recommend hotel.

I had to take my husband to the airport in Punta Gorda, so my granddaughter, and daughter tagged along. We decided to spend the night, and go to the beach. We stayed at the Punta Gorda Water front Hotel, because the reviews were good, and it also had a good rate. I was pleasantly surprised to see americans at the front desk. There is nothing worse to me than going to a hotel, and you can't understand what they are saying. The staff was pleasant, courteous, and helpful. Every request we made was taken care of. Our room was very clean, the beds were compfy, everything was nice, and new. The hotel had a peaceful, and pleasant feel to it. Our room overlooked the water, and there were pelicans and other birds that we could see off the balcony. There was a boardwalk that went along the water, and we walked around, lots of lighting, and it felt very safe. They did have some renovation going on, but it was away from the area they have people staying and wasn't a problem at all. The free breakfast was great, blueberry, and plain waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, pastries, and much more. Milk, orange juice, and coffee. Everything was hot, and fresh. I can't say anything bad about my stay except it was too short. I will definitely be back!

Stay away until construction is done. Great hotel for location and view. Free good breakfast. Hotel is trying tomrun and renovate at same time. Ants everywhere....... Had to throw food away. They were even in the beds. No towel racks in bathroom. No ice buckets. No door number, taped sign. A/c not working properly and nothing they could do. No maintenance or manager on site. If they can get it together will be awesome hotel

Thank you very much for your review and we apologize that we did not meet your expectations. We do realize doing a major renovation kicks up some dust. We expect to be 100% completed with our renovations by the fall of 2014. We would like for you to give us a second chance, as we are very excited about the finished product.

went to this hotel with the mindset of just having a place to sleep. What a pleasant surprise the staff is wonderful. We were put into one of the original rooms when we first arrive but the manager moved us over to a new room in the middle of our trip, beautiful rooms, very central you can walk almost anywhere, dinner shopping etc. The pool was great, the surroundings were great free breakfast in the morning but most of all The staff was so helpful and willing to please. we are planning our next trip to Punta Gorda for the holidays and YES we will be staying here again! Yes they are under construction however, they try and keep all of that to one area.

The motel is okay considering they are in the throws of making a change over to a Holiday Inn, the north wing they hope will be open ion November or December, this will allow them to work on the south wing. The location is great, the view from a park side or waterside room is great. Even with all that is going on the place stays pretty clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was super the eggs nice a fluffy and the sausage were not to strong tasting. All in all the place worked and the price was great. Would go back.

Room Tip: This would be kind of hard with renovations going on but if you can get a room on the west side at l...

Number 1 thing you should know about this place right now, It's under renovation. Dumpsters in the parking, along with signs that say park at your own risk. The elevator walls were scratched, and the floor was just poorly painted plywood. no tile or cover of any kind. The ice machine on the 3rd floor was broken with a sign saying to use the one on the first floor. Mold and algae coated the windows. The carpet had huge bumps in it, that I tripped over everytime I had to walk down the hallway. The door to our 2nd room was stuck, and appeared to have been broken into at some point with a crow bar. We had to shoulder tackle the door to get it to open, and it was never on the first attempt. We had to get a 2nd room because during the night I discovered a leak in the bathroom that was dripping water onto the counter from the light fixture above, and another leak in the actual room next to the bed where I was trying to sleep. The air conditioner wasnt working so we had to try to sleep with just the sheets. The tv in the room was so old you could hear it buzzing when you turned it on. And the rest of the decorations didnt match at all. The dressers and night stands had to be at least 30 years old or more. There was also a shortage of electrical outlets in which to plug in your accessories or devices. The clerk didnt seem apologetic with the issues we encountered. The pictures you find on their websites are all very old, and the hotel no longer looks anywhere close to what they claim it is. I would not recommend this place to anyone, not even my worse enemy. Even after all the issues we encountered they only gave us a small discount for our trouble. Even the free breakfast wasnt very good. There is a glass wall blocking entry to the hot food, and you must burn yourself in some manner to get to it. We didnt even bother to try to eat there on the 2nd day. There was also sand in the tap water.

As many others have said, the hotel is undergoing extensive renovation by the new ownership, after several years of decline. Nonetheless, the price is fantastic for Punta Gorda. The rooms are very clean, and the staff is helpful and friendly. We experienced a couple of minor issues (internet down on the first night) but everything was resolved quickly and happily. One of the front desk staff even looked up driving directions on her phone for me while the internet was down. You really cannot beat the price and location.

Room Tip: Definitely look for water or park view, as those rooms have been more recently updated
