From the moment we arrived (and with ample free car parking spaces provided behind the main building) we were impressed by the warm welcome we received from John, who also gave us a map of the historic area and a run down on what to see, where to go, best places to eat etc.
The Carriage Way is well located for an casual stroll around the historic district, within easy reach of Flagler College and the Castillo de San Marcos. There is a wide choice of excellent restaurants close by, to suit all budgets and lots of quaint and arty shops to browse.
The rooms are excellent, and the owners have gone to great lengths to maintain the historical feel of the building with the interior design whilst at the same time creating a relaxing and cozy ambience. Lots of little touches made it so good (including the sherry decanter in the room, which was always refilled when we were out)! Lot's of coffee available at all times and a wonderful verandah to sit out on and watch the world go by.
The high point was the excellent breakfasts each morning, prepared by Jeannie. Unusual and exotic (like eggs in a basket, hawaiian banana muffins) with fresh baked breads and rolls (plus assorted home baked cookies)...what a treat to start the day.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Carriage Way and wouldn't hesitate to book a return stay there.More
