I can't find anything bad to say about St. Francis Inn! The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and quiet (The Overlook) and the breakfast was quite yummy. We enjoyed the close proximity to the historic area and we walked almost everywhere. The only time we used the car was to go the the lighthouse, Alligator Farm and to the LimeLight Theater. We especially enjoyed and took advantage of the continuously available coffee, soda and water. Even after we checked out, we were welcome to use their public restroom, lounge and drinks for the rest of the day before we headed to the airport in the afternoon. With all of the things that are included with your stay at St. Francis Inn - breakfast, cocktail hour wine & snacks, dessert, lighthouse tickets, Oldest House discount, bikes, and parking ($10 per day in town), this place is an excellent value!

Our road trip in the Keys was cut short by cold weather, and on a lark we decided to stop in St. Augustine on our way home. I got on Tripadvisor on my phone and compared the places with their google maps location, and was thrilled when the Inn's website still had a room left. When you drive in on King Street (the main road when you come in off Highway 1), the Inn is a simple right down George Street, super easy to find and had a dedicated free parking area. We arrived after check-in time, and the incredibly gracious host gave us a discount on the available room (Anne's room). There is also a military discount (so ask!). This is not the room I would have wanted if I had more options, but it was nice, quiet, and perfectly adequate. The sheets were AMAZING (they sell them in the gift shop). The mock fireplace heater was a nice touch. The host kindly informed us that happy hour would be starting shortly. It was served in the dining room and included heavy hors d'oeuvres that are set on a weekly menu. Thursday night is crab dip night. They serve bottled beer and wine from a local winery (nice touch). Later in the evening, they put out dessert. Breakfast was similarly set on a schedule and was delicious and filling. The eggs in a basket were new to me but were absolutely delicious. The coffee was strong and good. There was a little bit of a crowd waiting for a table because folks were lingering over their breakfasts. In warmer weather, I think most of us would have sat in the larger garden table area complete with flowers and koi pond. The Inn is a quick walk to the shops and restaurants, and we even walked to the lighthouse (though I would not recommend doing this- the town is not as pretty on the other side of the Lion bridge, and it's a hike). The Inn has bicycles available and provides free passes to the lighthouse (which also includes a discount in the gift shop). On top of all of that, the Inn is the "oldest" in the country, so staying there was an experience, in itself. Highly recommend this place, it is an incredible value, and we can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Anne's Room was a little dark but was impressively quiet for being a corner on the front of the...

The staff was very hospitable and accommodating. The property was quaint and the room was comfortable. Our stay at this bed and breakfast made a special event even more memorable. We would certainly recommend the St. Francis Inn to new and experienced B & Bers.

Beach Cottage was quiet, secluded, had everything one could need.....everything. Great relaxed atmosphere and very kind staff. The beach was steps away. I'm a private person and felt very comfortable here.

Room Tip: The Beach Cottage was perfect !

The Inn is a little difficult to find for those unfamiliar with St. Augustine's one-way streets in the old city area. Our room, The Garcia, was a little musty when we first entered. Those 2 minor issues aside, we loved the Inn, the location, easy parking across the street, and tasty breakfasts. St. Augustine has a wealth of history as the first successful European colony in N. America. The Inn is located just outside of the busy city center on a quiet street, and an easy walk or bike ride to all the interesting historical sites, restaurants and night life.

We met interesting guests during social hour over wine & snacks. My favorite time at the Inn was dessert hour, 8-9 in the evening, because the desserts were scrumptious and all the guests were in a good mood after a dinner out, back at the Inn for a tasty treat, and then back out for music at one of the local venues with live music.

The Inn had everything we wanted, including free bicycles, jacuzzi in the room, swimming pool, lovely courtyard, coffee/tea/juice/snacks at all hours, and very capable and friendly staff.

The room rates are significantly higher than what I expected, but all the extra amenities made the cost worthwhile on a "splurge vacation". My wife and I stayed 3 nights, including Valentine's Day.
