I just got back from a wonderful 3 days vacation with my family. The owner Joe is a great guy and the folks that work at the Inn make you part of the family the only sad and bad thing I can think of is the last day when you leave the Inn.
I first get greeted by their furry Boss Zeke he makes one feel welcome but beware he dose sleep on the tables in the morning, but he looks so cute. I can't say enough great things just go to this awsome Inn and see for yourself!

You nailed it when you called Zeke the Boss! He's moved his morning nap to the garden itself the past few mornings - curled up among the flowers. Since it rained this morning we do wonder WHY he's lying in the damp soil, but none of us are brave enough to ask....
Thanks for your kind words and come see us again soon!

Absolutely loved everything about this inn. Our first B & B in America more than lived up to our expectations.. The staff were amazing-friendly & helpful. The chef was superb his strata, artichoke dip & cakes to die for. The inn itself is in two beautiful building with all modern comforts whilst keeping its old character. Thye location is perfect, you can park your car & walk around the old town which is compact. The beach hut is great with plenty of chairs, towels & hot water.Social hour is a great way to make new friends & unwind!
Harry's is a great restaurant. Flagler College & the Lightner museum are a must to visit.

We are so happy to be USA Bed & Breakfast Ambassadors for our UK friends! Chef Gary will be pleased to know you enjoyed his special dishes and we will (as always) share your comments with the staff. We are happy to offer our Inn guests beach access with towels, chairs and cold water for drinking, and a bathroom with a hot shower. Feels so great after an afternoon enjoying the ocean!!! Thank you very much for your kind review and, please, come back soon....

My husband and I recently stayed at the St Francis Inn for our anniversary. The staff is wonderful, the inn is very cozy and charming and the location cant be beat. The food was delicious as well. We were surprised a how many "specials" were available with our room, including a free bottle of sherry and free tickets for the lighthouse tour.
I highly recommend the St Francis Inn to anyone who is looking for a romantic getaway and I cannot wait to go back :)

Thank you for your review. We especially love the photos you posted. The courtyard has been covered in raintree blossoms for a couple weeks now (and we're sweeping every day!) and the pretty yellow blossoms really add to the feeling of autumn. The cooler temperatures help, too! Come see us again soon, OK?!

My wife had the good fortune of finding the historic St. Francis Inn on-line when she planned a surprise get-away weekend and it was most enjoyable. I have had the good fortune to have travelled in 49 of 50 states and I would rank St. Augustine amongst the best locations I have visited. Our stay began with a journey down a brick lined and narrow city street in an historic section of the city where we found the well lit parking lot with plenty of spaces directly across the street from the inn. As we were walking across the street my wife's phone rang. It was Adele from the reception desk calling to assure we were ok and to check on us. As we walked to the desk she welcomed us warmly, checked us in and provided much information about the city and hotel amenities. She then walked us to our room, Miss Lilly's Room, which was clean and spacious. The historic character of the old building made it a quaint arrangement and it worked out quite well. The room was comfortable and quiet. The proximity of the hotel to downtown, just a few short blocks away, made it easy to leave our car parked and to get exercise.

I have significant dietary issues but each morning I was able to find enough nourishing food from the breakfast buffet that was hot, plentiful and served by very friendly staff. The evening desserts were a pleasant and delicious surprise. Bicycles are available for use and they made the short trips around the area easy, since parking is at a premium in the city and was quite pricey in my opinion. All in all, it was an excellent stay and we would highly recommend St. Francis Inn.

We just returned from one of the nicest 2 day stays we can remember. In fact, we compared this to our trip when we lived in New England to Cape Cod in 2001,. It was that good.
The St. Francis Inn is in the old part of St Augustine which, even though we have lived in Northern Florida since 2003, had never seen. It is on an old, narrow, cobblestoned street, but offers free off-street parking. The check-in was efficient and the person who checked us in took us to our room which was the " Overlook " room. She made sure everything was in working order and that the complimentary Sherry was on the coffee table along with 2 glasses. She showed us all about the room before leaving us to enjoy the ambience.
As it was almost 5:30 PM, we went down to the complimentary get-together where we thoroughly enjoyed the wines and the appetizer, on the house. We visited with the other guests, enjoyed our beverages and hors d'ouevres and soaked in the charm of the room and the Inn. After the get-together, we walked the quaint streets and the Inn grounds. At 9:30 PM, we were able to enjoy that night's dessert offering with Port and also on the house, The Coconut Cake was delicious. In fact, the brunches on Saturday and Sunday, the complimentary Bloody Mary's and Mimosas and the get togethers and desserts on Saturday night were really something we looked forward to attending.
As part of our package, we received full price tickets to the St Augustine light house and grounds which we had not seen in, at least 5 years, and half-price admission to the oldest house which is walking distance from the Inn. Both sites were outstanding to fans of history which we both are. In fact, just staying a the Inn is a history lesson which everyone will enjoy.
Suffice it to say, October in St. Augustine is not to be missed and the perfect place to stay is the St. Francis Inn.

Thank you for your lovely review! We are so glad you chose to spend your Anniversary with us and that you had a good time. We'll make sure Chef Gary reads this so he'll know his special Coconut Cake was well received. Isn't it amazing how locals - and we include the entire Jacksonville area into our locals - really see a whole "new" side of St. Augustine when they stay in the historic district? We are glad we could share our hospitality and neighborhood with you. Come see us again soon!

Firstly, this is not a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton! But the historic location, staff and all the extras made our stay. It's quirky and homespun in parts but certainly clean and comfortable. We had the Balcony Room which was a large room (complete with bath in the room - not usually our thing, I have to say!), complete with wrap around balcony offering views onto St George Street, which is at the edge of the historic centre and so atmospheric. A great place just to sit under the trees with a drink. It's an easy walk everywhere too. It actually feels like you're in a Graham Greene novel....

The other great thing is the extras - the courtyard garden is lovely and you can sit out with free drinks on an evening, there's even a cute pool. As a guest, you'll receive vouchers for drinks and desserts at other places too, plus parking, breakfast and hors d'oeuvres are included in the rate, so it is very good value. And anything you buy here you don't get ripped off for!

The staff are very helpful and friendly too. And as another added extra, the B&B offers free use of some of the facilities of their beach house at St Augustine Beach and we had a lovely few hours there on our way back.

We've stayed before at the Casa Monica up the road which was great but this made a really charming contrast and we'd certainly stay again.

What!?! Not the Ritz Carlton!?! Ironically, the owners' son Patrick (a recent graduate of Johnson & Wales University's Hospitality Program) has been hired by the Ritz Carlton on Grand Cayman Island. Thank you for the wonderful review and we hope you will stay with us again. The entire staff strives to make each and every guest feel like this is the best vacation ever! It's nice to be appreciated for all our FREE guest amenities, too. Thanks again!

Our family of 5 with children 5 and under stayed at this B&B in "The Cottage" room. It is actually a the old cookhouse/slave quarters - separate from the main building. Wonderful for a family. Quiet with a full kitchen and opens out onto the pool area (needed in the FL heat). The hotel has free parking, which is great because parking in St. Augustine is tight! Once you park - just leave your vehicle. There are 3 local tourist trams that hit all the areas and it picks up within a block from the hotel. For kids and open tram is much more fun than a car. The thing that brought the most value to our stay were the guest amenities. There are so many, all wonderful and included! Free bikes, evening social hour with wine/beer and munchies - then come back later for free desserts! The breakfast was not continental - but a full cooked buffet - quite nice. Also a bottle of sherry in every room for a night cap with fresh flowers daily. The partnerships with local attractions allowed for free entry into the lighthouse and half off entry into the Oldest House. Best of all - is there sister property on the beach! You can drive to the beach and utilize the facilities - they provided beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, sand buckets and toys and a lot of ice cold water!
I think I have said enough... Go here and you won't regret it!

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review! It can be a challenge to travel with children and be able to stay somewhere besides a traditional hotel/motel, so we are happy our Cottage was available for your stay. Also glad you were able to take advantage of our beach access and enjoy our warm Atlantic waters! Hope to see you and your family again soon....
