PROS: This hotel was in an excellent location, the view of the bay amazing, rooms are clean and comfortable (bed was amazing), FREE WIFI, - even had the stop for the tourist trolley right outside the hotel.
CONS: Room inside needs updates it just looks tired and dated.

Room Tip: 2nd floor have better view of bay

Although the location is good, the hotel is not. The biggest problem is the dirt. When we walked barefoot in the room our feet wre filthy. Another problem was the uncaring staff. The person at the front desk appeared to be annoyed that we arrived too early. We waited several hours and came back but our room was still not ready and the clerk still seemed annoyed at us. We have stayed in 10 hotels on our 5 week trip from New Jersey to Florida and this is the only hotel we were treated so rudely. Between the unfriendly attitude and the filth, this hotel is just not worth it. We will not return.

As part of my families yearly 3 week road trip to Florida, we stayed in a twin room on the 2nd floor - poolside (next to Meehan's pub). Our room was cozy, clean and very comfortable and view from balcony was beautiful. The pool area was very clean with plenty of good quality fluffy towels provided. Indeed, the premises is kept in great shape for a 2 star hotel.

All of the hotel staff we engaged with were very friendly and helpful. Car parking can be tight but we had no problems. It would be great if a basic breakfast was provided as per other Best Westerns.

Location is fantastic - in the center of the old town but with no noise! This is a well run premises and we look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: Rooms in front of pool offer great views

This hotel is ok
The room was clean, well prepared, and there were facilities such as ice machines, soda machines and aircon. However i would describe everything as a bit tired, and it would benefit from modernisation which could make this hotel a wonderful place.
The location is absolutely wonderful; overlooking the bay and within easy walking distance of all the main attractions of this amazing city.
Overall, if the lovation is the main thing for you, stay here, but if you want luxury please do not.

Good location, but much below average in cleanliness. The floor was so dirty that the bottom of my feet were grimy and black. After a two day stay ,
we expected the staff would take care of the problem , but they did not.

I would recommend going elsewhere, somewhere much cleaner.

Death Of A Destination
By Jeff M. Hardison © July 16, 2013
SAINT AUGUSTINE -- The oldest city in the United States of America finally reaches its 450th anniversary of being an established, continuous, geo-political subdivision with roots from Europe when 2015 gets here.
Meanwhile, it has become so over-populated by visitors that it has died as the destination it was as recently as six years ago. Therefore, I would say the best bet is to avoid St. Augustine.
Nothing is so constant as change, and there is no way to return to the days of French Protestants being massacred by Spanish Catholics. Likewise, the Yellow Fever that wiped out half the city's population from days gone by will not be here tomorrow. And certainly, President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. cannot leave their footprints here anymore.
And while the events and people in a particular place at a specific time are not to happen again, practices of good business need not to have faded. And yet they did.
Best Western bought a former motel just to the southwest of the old fort in Historic St. Augustine. The company named it Best Western Bayshore.
There is a room number 118 in that renovated motel.
My wife Sharon and I arrived on July 12 at about 4 p.m. It was a Saturday. Cars were parked in every possible space. We checked in. The door to 118 was about eight inches ajar when we walked in.
Oh. How thoughtful. They had the door open for us. The “air conditioner” was blowing just fan air. Oh how thoughtful. They aired out the room. By the way, the air conditioner was a window unit and it was sub par.
That evening we walked to buy tickets to ride the Red Train. The three-day tickets, though, could not be used until the next day, and yet they were dated to expire on July 14.
Oh how thoughtful. They wanted us to help the local economy by shortchanging us by 33 percent. Well, 45 minutes later, the lady was able to figure out how to undo her mistake.
Of course, the three days of rain are beyond anyone’s control. Unfortunately the hair dryer was broken in the bathroom of the motel, so it could not be used either.
We found a place that delivered food.
Sharon’s Swiss mushroom burger somehow transformed into a regular cheddar or American cheeseburger, which would have been less expensive than the one she got, before it arrived.
Oh well.
The phone rang. The front desk wanted to know if there was a roll-away be in the room. No, there wasn’t.
The surprises continued the next morning. The shower came on immediately. Somehow the control became so jammed that it could not even be pounded down so that it would come out of the faucet. Only the shower worked. The faucet function was dysfunctional. Therefore, there was that shock of cold water shooting onto me.
Oh well.
I walked out to see cars parked on all four sides of the car in which we arrived. I asked the front desk lady how I could get out. She said she would call the rooms and find owners to move cars. I said to never mind. She said she thinks a red Honda caused an issue, because it parked improperly, perhaps not even being for a guest in the motel.
I asked her why she did not have it towed. She said it may belong to an elderly person who does not know where to park. Oh, so the signs saying cars will be towed and the $7 daily fee I paid to park are for nothing.
Wow, this place doesn’t maintain its parking lot; doesn’t repair broken assets; and the staff do not know where inventory exists.
We got out to the Red Train. I ran to give the “conductor” my ticket to have her tear off her part of the stub. She didn’t. She said just show it every now and then to drivers. Of course, Sharon would have liked to have gotten a red train sticker, but we did not on the first of our three days of riding. Besides, we only made on loop, before we got off did some hurried shopping, which included adding a poncho to the umbrella which we also bought.
We went back to our motel room. The key did not work.
The front desk lady asked if I had been near a magnet. I said the key was in my wallet. She decided that since we got two keys when we checked in, and they were both in the same envelope, that they cancelled each other out. She “restored” the keys. I gave her back one, because I did not feel like having to trudge through the rain every time I wanted to go back into the room that I paid for.
Oh, I guess the Best Western Bayeshore does not have maid service, because no maid ever appeared on Saturday.
Sunday, we checked out. However, Best Western said it would not refund the prepaid fees because we bought the room through Travelocity. Therefore, here is another message. Do not book rooms through Travelocity. The motel people will treat you as if you have leprosy.
One moral of this story is that good service appears to have brought too many tourists to St. Augustine. Bad service must be happening now to help reduce the traffic. It’s Darwin’s natural selection. The evolution of a tourist site. It reached its peak six years ago. Now, it is unraveling. Things fall apart, the center will not hold.
Three messages to remember are – stay away from St. Augustine, stay away from Best Western motels, and stay away from booking through Travelocity.
By the way, there were good things in St. Augustine. All things considered, go with the three messages to remember.

The Bayfront inn is a very nice hotel in a perfect location, close to all tourist attractions. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. The balcony is also the best spot in town to watch the 4th of July Fireworks Show. There are 2 reasons I do not rate this hotel excellent 1) for the price you pay they should at least have a hot tub to complement the small pool, 2) Guests should not have to for parking for staying there. Other than that it is great
