Our room was clean and cozy (we stayed in the honeymoon room) and it had a whirlpool tub to boot! The innkeeper was very friendly and breakfast was homemade. Bed was very comfortable. Would highly recommend!

I would definitely stay here again! I was here for a weekend couple's getaway and we were both very pleased. Our initial impression was just ok, as we found Southern Wind a bit difficult to locate (driving in from the south) and the outside of the Inn could use a nice power washing. But do not let the mediocre outside fool you, Southern Wind is quite nice on the inside. It has a charming, "inn" style decor and it is very clean. Steve, the manager/owner, greeted us at the door and was extremely friendly--and helpful! In fact, we messed up the time for breakfast the next morning--by a whole half hour--and Steve was nice enough to go back in the kitchen and get us not only the breakfast snacks but the hot food as well. We were very grateful for this generosity and the overall wonderful service here. Our room was fairly small but nice. We were on the second floor and we did not ever hear noise from any other guests (although we thought there might have only been one other couple sharing the inn with us). Noise from the outside was not a problem either. The location was great for walking around the historic area--an awesome location for people watching. My major complaint was that the bed was very stiff and creaky (and extra blankets in the room would have been nice). It seemed to be rather old. We tossed and turned all night, so that detracted from the stay somewhat. Regardless, we'd surely stay here again. We were absolutely satisfied.

We reserved last minute and found Scott very accommodating. he greeted us on arrival and was very friendly and sociable. The Inn was decorated beautifully and very clean. We enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies before heading to our room, and he took time to tell us about nearby restaurants before we headed out to dinner.

Breakfast in the morning was very good. The fruit, yogurt, juices and breads gave lot of choices to go with our early coffee and were followed up with a hot entree.

As fellow Innkeepers from another part of the state, we tend to notice all the good and bad aspects of another Inn and found our experience at the Southern Wind to be outstanding. We will definitely be back again.

This was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast, and this fit the bill for a romantic getaway. The Southern Wind Inn is a wooden Victorian era building with character.

We stayed in the Porcelain Room. It had a queen size bed that was soft and comfortable. It was air conditioned and had a private bath, with tub. It also had a smaller flat screen TV, equipped with cable and a DVD player (bring your own movies).

Breakfast (coffee, juice, milk, granola cereal, melon, cinnamon/raison bread and english muffin for toasting, jam and a casserole dish) was provided, but be prompt. It was simple, but good food.

The proprietor was nice and greeted us each time we had contact with him. He was friendly and willing to answer questions about the area, but did not hover (which I appreciated).

Parking in old St. Augustine is scarce, but the Southern Wind Inn has ample, close by parking, which is included in the cost of the room. The proprietor allowed us to use a parking permit after we checked out, with the understanding we return it later that day, so we could spend more time in the city.

The only drawback is the Southern Wind Inn has thin walls, but I have lived in an older woodern home with wooden floors and expected this. There is a bar nearby that played live music until closing, but I sleep with the TV on for background noise and this did not bother either of us.

All in all-nice building, good area, great parking. If you want a modern facility with all the amenties, go to a resort or spa. Be realistic about what you want and what your expectations are.

We were very pleased with the Southern Wind Inn. We had booked a reservation online, with a confirmation, for a different B&B. However, when we arrived we discovered that the B&B did not have a reservation for us. We were extremely disappointed. The owner called around to various B&B's to find us a room for two nights. Scott at the Southern Wind Inn was so accommodating. He had one room for Thursday night and then another room for Friday night. He told us to go out on Friday and enjoy ourselves and they would take care of moving all our stuff. When we arrived back everything was moved to our new room. The rooms were very quaint and comfortable. Also want to mentioned how much we enjoyed the breakfast that was served. We would definitely recommend this to anyone going to St. Augustine.

We were really pleased with the location and the building itself is very pretty and clean. Rooms were quite small but well looked after and furnished. Overall, a very nice ambience. However we were disappointed with the services provided. We never saw Donna but Scott was mostly brusque and unfriendly. When we arrived he asked nothing about us or our journey. His description of the hotel and area was done at high speed and we barely had time to take it all in. Breakfasts were OK but did not live up to the description in the brochure and there was no inquiry about any dietary preferences/requirements. There was supposed to be wine available in the afternoons but this never appeared and no mention was made of it. While we were sitting in the lounge at 9;15 PM Scott started to turn off lights and when we asked if the irritating background music/radio that played continuously could be turned off we were told that "it always stays on" without any further explanation. We found all of this very strange -- it seemed like a small change in attitude could have made a great difference to the enjoyment of our stay. WiFi strength was good in public areas but very poor in our rooms

Southern Wind Inn delivered what we expected in our first-ever B&B get-away. Three nights in the Veranda Room was great except for an aged bed (said to be Posturpedic ... not explained that it was very old Posturpedic). Location to the old city is a treat. Easy walk to attractions, shopping and dining. Scott and Donna were pleasant hosts. Relaxing veranda to watch horse-drawn carriages and ghosts tours. We will be back and would recommend Southern Wind Inn to friends and associates.
