“Best choice for a B&B in St. Augustine”
Reviewed 1 October 2007

I am so glad we selected this B&B. We were originally looking for something closer to the water, but in the end - this was the perfect spot. Everything (including the water front) is within walking distance! And, instead of the noise from carriages and trolleys just a few blocks over, this street was so peaceful and quiet! We had our own private balcony and could listen to the night sounds.

Bonnie is an excellent hostess and a fabulous cook. I'm just disappointed that more of her recipes are not on her web page so I can learn to make them! Wow - the best scrambled eggs and secret-recipe biscuit ever!

Would definitely stay here again!

The best bed and breakfast in St. Augustine we have stayed in. Bonnie (the owner) made you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive. Breakfast each morning was outstanding. My only wish was that we had her famous biscuits every morning. My wife and I were married there in the bed and breakfast and Bonnie put her heart and soul into ensuring we would remember the ceremony for a lifetime. Her sister Dianne took great pictures for us. The bed and breakfast is in an extremely quite neighbourhood where you only hear the birds singing and the squirrls playing. It was close enough to the town center where you can easily walk to. I will stay again and recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone.

We stayed for the 3 night package.
This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast and were excited for the experience after hearing so many good things from others.

Our room was spotless, elegant & clean with every ammenity we could imagine. We stayed in the Lady Grace which was cozy & romantic! We saw all the rooms and they too were just breathtaking!

The house and grounds itself were so whimsical, very very well maintained & magical. We enjoyed our time on the swing on the front porch!

Bonnie & her staff go out of the way to make sure your every request has been met as much as possible. They do not miss a trick!

Our "yummy & filling" breakfast each morning was served in the wonderful dining room and each meal was amazing! And by candlelight! We had a great group of fellow visitors which we enjoyed having morning chats with before we each went off for the day on a new journey!

We were married, we eloped, during our stay in the parlor and utilized one of the wedding packages, thru her website, which was a great bargain and covered everything. Bonnie, herself, performed our ceremony. She handles everything very personal & professional... It was just perfect & intimate and we were very very pleased with the service.

Don't forget to ask Bonnie about the Raintree restaurant and the private car service to and from the restaurant... this was a great local restaurant which we recommend!

The Inn itself sits back 3 short blocks from the main drag in St. Augustine, maybe a 5 minute easy safe walk, so it was nice to stroll home daily thru the Victorian Houses in the neighborhood to our Inn but yet be so close to all the excitement when needed!

We also recommend Ghost & Graveyard's ghost tour... we did 3 Ghost Tours on our trip, by far this one was the best!

Bonnie, thanks for the wonderful memories, we can't tell you enough how magical it was and we will see you next year!

I recommend the Alexander Homestead to anyone looking for a fantastic, romantic getaway and a bit of pampering!

My wife and I stayed in the Alexandra Room on the first floor...The two night stay was great...Nice, Quiet and Clean.

The room was period decor, with a porch, and jacuzzi tub for two (great for bubble bath). The bed was comfy as well

The full breakfeast was very good but would have liked and more variety.

The amenties in the room/right outside the room were very good....coffee, wireless connection for computer etc

The B & B is very close to downtown so we didnt have to use our car

Both Bonnie (the owner) and her sister Dianne were very hospitable and accomodating

We would definitly stay there again

A clean, well run B&B with added features of park and walk to all places in Saint Augustine. Food was very good and the room, from the balcony to the bubble bath was super! My husband and I met some other wonderful couples and had a great weekend. I would recommend this B&B anytime.

We were among several couples that stayed here for our mutual friends' wedding. They took great care of us and arranged every detail. Very cozy atmosphere. We enjoyed the 2nd floor "party porches" attached to our rooms--great place to unwind with a beverage & snacks. Decor and landscaping first rate. Absolutely divine breakfasts! We felt very much at home and look forward to visiting again.

Everything we saw on line -- pictures and reviews -- was very accurate! This was our first stay at the Alexander Homestead, but it won't be our last.

As we read in the reviews, Bonnie was there to meet us (along with classical music) when we arrived. She provided us with great information and maps of historical St. Augustine, including recommendations for restaurants and activities.

The Queen Anne room was beautiful -- we enjoyed the porch and swing very much, although it was very hot the four days we visited. We were thankful for the air conditioning! Coffee was ready right outside our door each morning at 8:15. The breakfasts every morning were fantastic -- something different each day -- a great way to start the day, and you definitely were very full when you left the table! We loved all the breakfast foods, but our favorites were the homemade granola and the "Bonnie biscuits"! Bonnie even remembered that I was a tea drinker and had a fresh pot ready for me each morning at breakfast!

The complimentary wine, beer and soda were also great after a long day of sightseeing and walking. Water bottles were replenished each day in our room, and, when we returned to our room after breakfast, we discovered that it had already been "made up."

We parked our car when we arrived and only used it once to visit the beach and Lighthouse, as everything in historic St. Augustine is a short walk away (and parking spaces are hard to find!).

Overall, a wonderful experience -- you can't go wrong in choosing to stay at the Alexander Homestead. (We had a chance to "peek" at all the rooms -- they're beautiful!)
