“Perfect Getaway”
Reviewed 16 April 2013

Gibbs is a wonderful host. His inn is beautiful, he is accessible and always willing to help. He gave us wonderful advice on where to eat and have fun. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. We got one of the smaller two rooms, and still had plenty of room to move around, and we are NOT little folks! I'm a chubby girl and the hubs is 6'6 and a BIG guy. The rooms were spotless and had every amenity we could ask for. The location is perfect! It is a short five minute walk to St. George St, but far enough away from it that we weren't accosted by drunks at 3am. The breakfast is to die for! Gibbs is so talented in the kitchen! Oh goodness me, it was all so wonderful. We will be back!

We came to St.Augustine to celebrate my birthday. The location is great. We parked the car and walked everywhere. Gibbs recommended places to eat and gave us directions. The room was charming, right down to the little stools to get into the bed. There is even a small refrigerator, but it is hidden in a cupboard. The highlight is the brunch. It was wonderful, and you won't need to eat again until supper.

Gibbs was very helpful upon check in, we arrived around 8 PM. Gibbs recommended a restaurant that was a 5 minute walk. We had dinner at the restaurant (The Floridian) and then literally ate every meal there it was so fantastic. Except brunches - Gibbs brunches were awesome, different every day and much better than I expected.
Room was perfect, our 15 year old daughter stayed on the day bed in the entry room - perfect for her and my wife and I had enough privacy to sleep, but there is an open pass through so it's not completely private.
Would definitely recommend - the parking in rear was very convenient although I got lucky with a street spot and didn't drive the whole weekend so I just left my truck in the street until we left. I have a full size pickup and would have had plenty of room in the rear lot.

Check it out - highly recommended!

The best place I've ever stayed in St Augustine! Hands down you get your money's worth! Owners are cooperative and friendly. They pointed us in the right direction for the best food and golf in the area.

We wanted a place off the main tourist areas - this place was perfect for that. Gibbs made it special - great suggestions and hints on what to visit.

Inspired: Gibbs and his incredible food!

Pro: location, quiet, parking

Con: room was not real clean, too much furniture in room, and no water pressure in shower

Return: no

Purchased: via Snique Away

Room Tip: Pay more for a bigger room

Thank you for your review. We are glad that Gibbs and his brunches made your stay at the Saragossa Inn special

It is true that you stayed in our smallest room. It is our least expensive room and remains our most popular. We have tried to make sure our rooms are well appointed. This room comfortably holds a queen-sized four-poster bed, table with two chairs, a writing desk, a wet bar with built-in cube refrigerator and microwave and a vintage armoire for your belongings.

We apologize if you did not feel the cleanliness of your room met our high standards. Cleanliness is of the utmost importance to us, to which our previous reviews attest. Our home, a 90-year-old Sears Craftsman, is located in the nation’s oldest city, a popular tourist destination. Peak times can put a strain on local utilities. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Again we apologize if we missed an element of housekeeping. The best time to notify us of an issue is while you are at the Inn, so we may do what is within our power to correct the problem. If you wait until after you leave, it’s too late for us to help. This is our home; we live on site and are always just a phone call away. We WANT you to enjoy your stay with us.

The room was very clean and the decor was very quaint. The bed was not an uncomfortable hotel bed but more like a mattress at home. The food was also very good and not your usual b&b fare. Excellent experience.

Stayed here in December for one night and loved it. Locationwise it is in the middle of everything, all the attractions and restaurants are short walk away. The rooms were beautiful and clean and the owner very helpful. Would definitely come again.
