“Best on the beach.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2011

Beacher's Lodge has always been my favorite place to stay in St. Augustine. I've stayed at 3 other places around Crescent Beach/St Augustine and there's nothing like Beacher's Lodge. While the condos are smaller and not appropriate for large parties, they're perfect for a family get-away or a vacation with good friends. Most condos (if not all) have sleeper sofas, which is always a nice addition, as my friend from Orlando came and stayed with us unexpectedly. Having the sleeper sofa helped in that situation! The complex is always clean; I've never had issues with bugs, trash, etc. Normally, the complex is a quiet place to stay with a gorgeous wide beach and a heated pool that is probably the best in the area. There's a few restaurants in the area to walk to, but I would strongly suggest South Beach Grill right next door, which is hands-down my favorite place to eat in St. Augustine. Tony's pizza across the street is good as well, but I certainly prefer the atmosphere of South Beach Grill where you can eat on the patio with the sand at your feet and the crashing waves in your ears.

If you're on a budget, here's a tip: I went through a private owner and not the Beacher's Lodge office (it was actually cheaper that way). While the office is very accomodating and helpful, booking through the individual condo owner rather than office saved me quite a bit of money in the end.

Room Tip: book through a private owner

All of our suites are owned privately...each unit has a different owner. This allows us great flexibility with our rates. We have many units that are offered on special lower rates...just ask for them when you call to make your reservations. Often these rates are much lower than what is listed online. Many times these lower rates match or beat our competition and always include housekeeping, free wifi and responsive customer service from our on property staff. We know we can find the perfect, privately owned unit while still working within your beach vacation budget.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights. Unfortunately, we had crummy weather. The location is great, close enough to drive to the historic downtown and other attractions. The unit we stayed in was pretty outdated. It wasn't dirty or anything, just old so chipped paint, slider to deck didn't open well. There was 1 bedroom, plus the sleeper sofa in the living room. There is really no "kitchen", it is more of a small counter with micro, refrigerator and stovetop. Once you open the sleeper sofa, there is no room. We did not use the kitchen except to store a few leftovers in the refrigerator and microwave for reheating, tea, etc. Love the area, would stay again, but would ask for a different unit.

We have such a large variety of room options here at Beacher's Lodge... there are suites with full kitchens and suites with kitchenettes. There are three suite sizes, studio, queen and king... some are more spacious than others...typically 2 - 4 people are comfortable. We have standard rates for our rooms that have been most recently updated and we have rooms at a discounted rates which still provide the amenities and the great view, but with a lower nightly rate. We feel that there is a "perfect" room here for every traveler... it's our joy to find the best suite available for your budget. We work hard to keep the units clean and we encourage owners to renovate their units with amenities that will keep our guests coming back for more. Once you have stayed at Beacher's Lodge, it is easier to know what to ask for. For our first time guests, we believe that our staff will be knowledgeable enough to find the suite that's right for you. We are sure that you will be able to find your beach home away from home, here at Beacher's Lodge.

We had a fabulous time. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfy, 1 bath for 3 women was challenging but we worked it out. 10 miles to downtown St. Augustine but we did not care, staying on the beach was great!! The murphy bed was comfortable. Great kitchen and nice people.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We booked last minute on the Easter weekend so I was excited we found something that would take all 5 of us. We got the king suite which was a king in 1 room and a pull down queen bed in the lounge. They said we could get a rollaway for the 5th person for $10/night which we went ahead and did, once we got there we didn't know where to put the rollaway, it was very tight, so my 7yo just slept on the couch and he was quite comfy, we did call them to let them know we didn't need the rollaway for the following night, however even though they said they would take it out of our room, they didn't. Even though we weren't staying long (only 2 nights) they had all the amenities you'd want...fridge, microwave, stove etc. It was nice and clean, however our room smelled of dog I guess because it was the only carpeted part of the place, nothing a little air freshener wouldn't fix though.
View was wonderful, we were able to watch the sunrise each morning from our balcony and the kids loved that we were so close to the beach.
Staff was very friendly. Oasis Restaurant next door was great although a little on the $$ side and a long wait to get in but food was good.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay here, we would go again for sure.

We stayed at Beacher's Lodge September 7th through the 10th, 2010. We searched several places online that had good reviews that were within our price range, but none were directly on the ocean. As I searched the Beacher's Lodge website I found out that they had specials for the 4th floor if you got one that was above the pool area. We got a room with a remarkable view for $93 a night!! Our balcony had a great view of the ocean. The room was clean, we had a queen size bed in the bedroom and a full kitchen and living room. It was perfect for us. The bathroom was a little small, but your on vacation so you shouldn't be spending that much time in the room. The rooms were fully furnished and they cleaned our room, gave us clean towels, and coffee every day. If you are looking for something that is on the ocean without paying an arm and a leg this place is perfect. If you are looking for luxury this place isn't for you. We will definitely be back if in the area again.

I've stayed here a couple times now with my grandmother, husband and other family. I've seen a variety of different rooms and all of them have been perfectly adequate and comfortable. We had one problem with ants in the kitchen of one of them, but otherwise, cleanliness was great (aside from the sand that gets everywhere in a beach-side condo).

I love Anastasia Island and St Augustine. My grandparents used to live just down the road at Ocean Gallery for a while. Those condos were more elegant and bigger, but as a holiday rental place, Beacher's Lodge is great. The decor is done individually by each owner, and some have better taste than others, but I think that adds character, and I like that about it. Staff have always been very friendly and helpful when I've been there, and the views, pool and beach are just fantastic.

In general, it's a perfect base for a fun seaside holiday, no real problems and I have fond memories of the area and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Don't be misled by the good reviews (I was). I think the reviews must come from the condominium owners that are trying to attract revenue to rent out their rooms.
When we booked our rooms with Paulette (month prior), we wanted a first floor queen room with pet availabilty. We looked throughout the website and settled on room 133. When we arrived they informed us that they changed our room to #304. We reserved a first floor room and they never informed us with this change. Of course, now, at arrival, they had no 1st floor to offer. We even arrived before our "booked" room was occupied but they would not accommodate us.
My husband likes to go barefoot (especially at a beach location) and I noticed after the first hour that the soles of his feet were black and filthy. The sliding doors were difficult to open and did not lock. The curtains were falling off the curtain rods. The tiled floors definitely need replacement. The kitchen is extremely tiny -- thank goodness we planned to eat out!
We could hardly get in the front door because the entrance with a credenza made it impossible to even open the door fully. The bedspread looks like it it hasn't been cleaned since the 80's. The sheets were so thin you could see through them. The decor needs a complete update. And the killer is: It was $135 per night and a $50 (non refundable pet fee) for our small pet.
At this time, being a holiday weekend, all rooms in the area were booked. We were stuck!
On the last day, we asked if we could have a late check out. (1 hour extension) They told us that would be another $40 fee.
The small pool was shaded by the building all day except for 2 corners. We loved the beach -- probably should have pitched a tent (if they would allow it) -- it would have been cleaner.
Don't be fooled by the website pics. At least, the room they gave us was terrible.
