“Amazing Condo. Poor Property Management”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

My husband and I rented directly from a condo owner. The condo was great! Our issue is with the property management. Local St. Augustine residents seem to make Beacher's Lodge their private (and free) day get-a-way. Each day we were there both the beach and pool was occupied by people who had their coolers, beach furniture and bags taking up valuable real estate (tables and loungers at pool). Upon packing, they tied up the one restroom beside the pool to change into dry clothes for the car ride home. Not once did anyone from the office come and address the "unwanted guests" after my multiple visits to the office speaking of it. The morning we were packing our car to leave, another family parks beside us unloaded all their equipment and made their way to the beach. An office worker is standing on the porch smoking and watched the whole thing and never said a word?
My next visit to St. Augustine I will be sure to stay on a property where I can fully utilize all of the perks that I paid for. It is unfortunate since the unit is very nice, clean and affordable.

Room Tip: Choosing a lower floor will prevent you from having to utilize the smelly elevators that always have...

This issue was brought to our attention and we immediately sent staff to check the situation out first hand, both times the report was made. There are times when people check out of their condo but stay a little while later at the pool, so they might appear to have more belongings than typical, but we do appreciate a report from a concerned guest. When the report was made at the front desk the first time we sent condo staff to investigate and nothing was found amiss. The second report, we sent a representative from the front desk who stopped a young child from eating at the pool and addressed another family that was leaving in their vehicle and it was a guest who had trouble with the sleeper sofa from the night before - but never-the-less a verified guest. We were prompt in addressing this guest's requests. July is our busiest month at the pool, it is busier than any other month three times over, so the pool is crowded at this time of the year. We do have a locked gate to keep public traffic out of the pool and if there is a disturbance or grievance we do our best to address it, aside from stopping verified guests from using the property amenities.

My family visits St. Augustine every year although we'd never stayed at Beacher's prior to this visit. I was't sure about staying along Crescent Beach b/c I didn't know what to expect but after this trip it's my new favorite spot!
Our condo at Beacher's was perfect-the kitchenette was fully stocked so all we had to do was pack as usual and hit the grocery store upon arrival! The ocean view was BREATHTAKING. Crescent Beach is absolutely gorgeous. The hotel is right on the beach so all you have to do is go through the gated entry (love that feature) and walk over the dunes (a treat itself-my kids LOVED watching the turtles) to a beautiful beach area which wasn't overcrowded or overly loud.
The pool was heated which was a welcome surprise....it was very clean, well maintained and bigger than many hotels in the area-and there are bathrooms right outside the pool gate which was much better than having to walk all the way back to our room.
It was a short, easy drive down A1A into town when we needed to grab a bite and an awesome little pizza place right across the street from Beacher's.
The only complaint? The elevator's aren't airconditioned so it's stifling in the midst of summer and you do have to get your luggage up the front stairs (only abt 8 steps I think and u can actually walk around the side so u can use a luggage cart) but it's nothing that would come close to keeping us from returning.
Beacher's made for a wonderful little home away from home-we will DEFINITELY be back.....

My husband and I stayed at a condo (booked by owner) on the 3rd floor at Beacher's Lodge in Crescent Beach, FL for our honeymoon. I was extremely happy with our stay. The condo was clean, nicely decorated with a beach theme and the view of the ocean was absolutely gorgeous. It was a small, one-bedroom condo, but was very comfortable for two people. I wish the bathroom would have been bigger, but other than that, I have no complaints. The next time we visit St. Augustine, we will definitely be booking at the Beacher's Lodge again.

Beacher's Lodge is on Crescent Beach, and as far as I could tell, it was the only hotel/condo on Crescent Beach. Crescent Beach is great because it is not super busy, but it is still beautiful. Since there aren't many hotels, there aren't a ton of people, which is exactly what we were looking for. The front desk staff at Beacher's was great--very down-to-earth, very real, not fake like chain hotels. We called for a room, then they let us see us before we paid for it when we got there. Did our room have some dated items/pictures? Sure, but I don't go on vacation to look at pictures in my room. It was nice, efficient, good bed, good coffee in the room and the lobby, great cleaning service, nice complimentary shampoo/conditioner/dish soap. We had one of the few rooms not looking over the ocean, but that was fine. Having access to the beach was what we wanted, and beacher's is a nice place to do just that.

We rented two pet-friendly condos for a two-family vacation. The units were side-by-side, so that was a bonus. The beach was amazing! The condos were nicely furnished, although somewhat dated. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. As others have noted, there was a problem with cell service and wi-fi. We could get wi-fi in the bedroom, but not in the living room. This certainly wouldn't keep us from returning. (Be prepared for lots of sand on the floor. It was a little sandy even when we first walked in. However, after staying for several days, I could see how it would be impossible to keep the floors clean. You're just going to have sandy floors if you're right on the beach.) We had a great, relaxing vacation. Overall, I would definitely stay at Beachers again!

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor, which was great for pets and for kids going back and forth between cond...

Not impressed. Pictures are old. Room has not been updated in 7 years. Everything was old and dated. A/C was making noises the whole trip. Daughter said place was a "dump" This was "GOLD" rated unit...really? Wasn't even a bronze. Bathroom was moldy and had no ventilation at all. Place looks like a tenement from the beach...rusty and no charm.
We paid $200 a night---could have stayed at the Ritz for a little more. Will not revisit....help at desk was nice, but units are old and tired--bed felt lousy--not a great visit. Went by ratings--definitely not the truth. Most units rent for less than $100 night prime season...more like a real
budget hotel. Elevators were filthy and smelled...cig butts everywhere...yuck!

Each unit is individually owned and we do not have a Gold Rated Unit that has not been updated in the passed few years. We had our entire property photographed in 2012, so the photos on our website are very much true to what is in the room. Unfortunately if we are not made aware of any dissatisfaction there is very little that we can do. We allow our guests to select a room online for themselves and if you make your reservation by phone we are always quick to explain the nuances of our condos. We have a wide range of rental opportunities and we try to be very upfront about the amenities in our rentals. Everyone that stay's in a balcony suite at Beacher's Lodge has a beautiful ocean view and during the busiest time of the year, the rates are high, just like everyone else directly on the beach.
Again we wish we could have taken care of your family's need while you were still here at the beach.

We stayed in unit 409 this week. The unit was comfortably furnished, and the bed was SUPER comfy. We found most of what we needed within the unit, the basics being furnished in the kitchen area. There were plenty of dishes, glasses and cookware. I was pleased to see that dish soap, paper towels, etc were provided. The unit was not "spotless," but it was clean. (This unit has a lot of glass and mirrors, which would be impossible to keep clean.) Housekeeping tidies up and brings fresh towels, soap, etc., daily. They also provided coffee packets. Our unit did provide 2 beach chairs and an umbrella, but we had brought our own, so those were not used. Most of the units face the ocean. Units "1-7" overlook the pool, which would be great for families, but if you want quiet, pick a higher numbered unit. The entire property was well-maintained and clean. Everything in the unit was in good working order. Very comfortable! We will be back!

Room Tip: Rooms "1" through "7" on each floor overlook the pool. We were close to the poo...
