We stayed in the York room and it was perfect for our weekend getaway. The gourmet breakfast was delicious, the people extremely inviting and friendly. It's close to everything and we didn't use our car all weekend. Absolutely loved it.

We stayed at Penny Farthing for our 30th wedding anniversary and Matthew and Betty were the perfect hosts! The breakfast each morning was delish and our room was the best!
It is also the perfect location as you can walk all around the historic downtown area; we didn't drive anywhere!!!
Thank you Matthew, you were a delight!

Room Tip: Our room opened up to the covered porch and was very quiet. :)

My husband and I went there to celebrate his birthday and decided to make a quick get away from Jacksonville, FL. The Penny Farthing was even better than we could have imagined. It was cute, comfortable, cozy and had that "welcome home" feel to it. Matthew was there taking care of us, and cooked us breakfast both mornings, which we had homemade sausage quiche with fruit on the first morning, and blackberry french toast with bratwurst the second morning. It's incredibly close to everything downtown which makes it easy to walk around and do some touring around and shopping. We absolutely loved this place and will go back for sure!! We stayed in the Buckingham, which was really adorable and had tons of character. Even better than the pictures and the bed was very comfortable.

Stayed two nights in the Catherine Bedchamber--comfortable king bed, large bath with two-person jetted tub, and private balcony with porch swing and a rocking chair. The room itself was a good size, however, we felt that there were too many artifacts and pieces of furniture making the room feel "cluttered." Difficult, for instance, to find cleared surfaces to put a laptop, wallet, keys, etc. The location was fantastic! right next to the Lightner Museum, easy walking distance to historic area and bay front. Breakfast was delightful, and host Matthew was very accommodating of any dietary needs/restrictions.

We stayed in the Windsor Room for two nights in February. The room is on the first floor, newly remodeled, and the most recent addition to the Penny Farthing.

The Windsor has a raised, comfortable, queen bed, a private bath with a stand up shower, and a kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. There is a flat screen tv, and a nice bay window which overlooks the parking area.

The room was somewhat small but very clean and nicely decorated. There was sherry in the room each night, and chocolate waiting for us when we arrived on Valentine’s Day, which was a nice touch. The wi fi was spotty.

The Penny Farthing is ideally located on a quiet side street, about a five minute walk to downtown. There is plenty of off street parking.

Breakfast was very good, and there is also a wine social in the afternoon.

Owners Marie and Dave, and their housekeeper Betty, go out of their way to make you feel at home. They were also very helpful in making recommendations for restaurants and places to visit.

My mother and I stayed at the Penny Farthing Inn for 3 nights. It was our first B&B experience and the inn came highly recommended to us. We were not disappointed. When we arrived, Matthew told us to think of the inn as our home and it quickly felt that way and remained so for our entire stay. Matthew was an excellent host! He provided information about activities in the historic downtown area and even made a dinner reservation (Including pick up) for us. Historic downtown and most attractions were within walking distance. Breakfast was excellent every day. I have dietary restrictions and Matthew and Betty graciously accommodated them. Afternoon tea, wine and snack were such a nice touch. We stayed in The Cambridge room which was spacious and quaint. This room was on the first floor (limited steps for my elderly mother) and had a king sized bed. Right outside of the room was a covered patio that we enjoyed as a reading spot. We hated to leave and will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We got a tour of most of the rooms and they were all wonderfully decorated. Some require going up 1...

How lovely!! We stayed several days in late June. The inn was cool and quiet, with comfortable furnishings and delightful touches throughout. When we called to make the reservation, Marie was especially helpful, describing the orientation of the rooms (important in sunny Florida), and the amenities (very accurately, it turned out). Our room was well-appointed, with a bit of sherry and a hammock on our private balcony, for watching St Augustine's late-afternoon pop-up cloudbursts. Marie and her staff (especially cook Betty!) were gracious and attentive, and breakfast was divine. It's less than a mile from the inn to the Fort, walking right through the Old City, with its shops, Spanish and British architecture, and fabulous cafes. Marie is a world traveler who has lived in St Augustine now for enough years to give you great advice. If you have a rainy day, she has a good selection of DVDs, books and box games. It's a small thing, but the parking area is shaded, another nice touch when the temps are hitting the 100s. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Ask Marie. She gives accurate, honest descriptions.
