Reviewed 6 July 2011

My friends and I were extremely disgruntled with our stay at Peppertree RV Resort this past weekend (July 2 – July 5, 2011). For starters, the lady at the front desk called us just as we were pulling in at 1:30pm to make sure we were still coming, meanwhile check-in isn’t until 2:00pm but their office hours end at 2:00pm. I have never heard of any hotel or resort expecting you to be there before check-in time. Last time I checked, check-in time means you can check-in anytime after that time. The office hours in general were very odd and inconvenient because if you have a problem once you get there, they have already left for the day. And that is exactly what happened to us. As soon as we got to our campsite we tried to hookup our camper to the electric but the 20 amp breaker for the 15 amp service was too weak to handle even a fan and so we called the office and left a message and had to wait a while until the park sent someone to check it out. Then the so-called maintenance man was not willing to fix it and instead told us to get an adapter at the nearby ACE Hardware store. Then to make matters worse, I read on the brochure they gave us that you must have a key to use the bath house facilities. Apparently we were suppose to ask for it but how were we to know to ask for it? Shouldn’t they just give it to us or ask if we need it? And we couldn’t exactly ask for a key because the office was closed by then. But as it turned out, the bath house facility was open, however, it was filthy! As soon as we turned on the light we saw numerous cockroaches scatter and even a couple ticks, which made my skin crawl. I refused to take a shower in there and instead used the outdoor shower by the pool while wearing my swimsuit. I also used the restrooms by the pool which weren’t desirable either but much better than the roach invested bath facilities. Speaking of which, the women’s pool bathroom never had soap in the dispenser and was out of toilet paper half the time. When they did change the toilet paper why didn’t they put soap in the dispenser? The funny part is, according to their website they gave the park a “new facelift”; if this is the case then they need another one. I don’t even want to know how bad it was before the so-called “facelift”. Also, the brochure they gave us claims that they have “Atlantic Ocean / Beach Access”, which led us to believe that we would have direct access to the beach. But we had to walk down and across the street and then walk all the way through another RV resort to get to the beach. This is a case of false or deceptive advertisement which they could potentially be sued for. The other RV resort that we walked through to get to the beach was Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort Oceanfront Camping and it seemed a lot nicer than Peppertree from what we could tell. The location was better, the sites seemed to be more equipped, the bathrooms were much cleaner and it is only $5 more a night to stay there. Last but not least, there were mostly mobile homes at Peppertree and barely any RV sites which definitely took away from the whole camping experience. In conclusion, we have no intention of returning to Peppertree RV Resort.

Room Tip: Only stay here if you have a bathroom with a shower in your RV.
