“Very Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed 10 February 2009

We stayed here for two nights in January, 2009. We had a nice, clean and quiet room. We found the staff very pleasant, especially the waitresses in the restaurant and the desk clerks. There were good cookies every night at the reception desk and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is in good condition and so was our room. We had booked our room through a discount website and the hotel allowed us to change the dates of our stay even though they did not have to.

We would definitely stay here again if we visit Saint Augustine in the future.

The hotel itself was nice enough but I had thought it was closer to the down town area. I didn't find the front desk very helpful nor did our friends, when they called for directions to the hotel. They could not help her at all.

We stayed at this property for Sunday and Monday nights of the 3-day MLK holiday weekend and had some small trepidation because of some mized reviews we'd read here; our experience on this visit was fine and we would certainly consider returning in the future. Our king-bed plus convertible sofa room was above average in size and contained a refrigerator, coffee-maker. and microwave, all in good working order. We found the bed particularly comfortable. The room was very clean and well-maintained, as was the property in general. We dealt with three desk clerks (for check-in, request for late check-out, and check-out) and two housekeepers; all were pleasant and efficient.

Except for the exterior, which is "Spanish-Colonial" themed, this is a classic interior-corridor, multi-story Holiday Inn with one central corridor and and multiple elevators, which are not banked, so they are convenient when entering from side entrances, which has been well maintained.

We did not use the hotel restaurant; St. Augustine has many restaurants, and we generally prepare our own breakfast.

Our only complaint during our two-night stay was that, shortly after the 11am check-out time both morinings, housekeepers knocked to ask if we'd be checking out; the first day we were not scheduled to check-out, and the second we'd already been granted a late check-out. In both cases they were courteous and apologetic, but it should not have been necessary.

While the property is not directly in the historic district, it was within a reasonable walk to it, and a short walk to a tour-train terminal. This is a modern motor hotel, not an historic bed-and-breakfast, but it was clean, efficient, convenient, and reasonably priced.

We visited St. Augustine to spend Christmas with Grandma. Wanted a good location to visit the historic sites. Having a hotel directly in the historic district would have been nice, but decided to spend less on the hotel so we could afford to spend more on other aspects of the trip. The Holiday Inn was a good compromise between cost and location. Very short drive to all locations. The rooms were as expected, nice, not plush, but roomy enough. The beds were good, but the sofa beds had some years on them. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Mark in the restaurant was very helpful. Grandma and Grandson very much enjoyed the breakfast buffet. (Our 9 year-old ate for free, so that was a bonus) Everything was quiet and orderly. Definitely would recommend it to others.

I wanted to write a good review about this place since I read some bad ones that made me hesitant to even come. i booked through priceline for a great rate, planning a weekend stay w my 2 kids while my husband went out of town on business. first i called the night before to make sure I had 2 double beds. Roland (sp?) took my call, noticed they had booked me a smoking room and quickly fixed it, he was very funny and pleasant. We got into town way before check-in time. The manager Adam Pollack got me a parking pass, checked to see when the room would be ready, and got us all tucked in. The room was clean, the cleaning staff had just been in and were very nice as well. after we came back from a day on the town we had fresh cookies at the lobby. The "above and beyond" moment for us came when I noticed the wireless internet signal was not strong enough. I asked Adam if they had an ethernet cable I could rent or borrow. He went to his office and lent me his personal one, HOW COOL WAS THAT. The location was fine...St.Augustine is very easy to get around. Overall I was super happy and will gladly stay here again.

We stayed here for three nights while visiting St. Augustine. The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful. The room was clean and well appointed. Sara at the front desk was very knowledgable about the area and when we requested additional towels had them in a moment. The hotel is within walking distance to the historical district. Suggest you take the train or trolley to get a tour if this is your first visit. They will pick you up at the hotel. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit.

While I have no complaint with the room we stayed in or housekeeping, the front desk staff could certainly use some customer service training. At check in, three different parties were told to wait (15 minutes or more) while the front desk clerk sorted through some paperwork. One customer eventually grew tired of watching the paper shuffle and departed.
We later discovered we left an item behind in the room. When I called the hotel, they said that housekeeping had found it. They promised to send it to us (at our cost which I had no problem with). A week later, as it had not arrived, I called and they promised again to send it. After numerous phone calls and numerous promises, we are still waiting 4 weeks later.
