“Agonizingly slow play”
Reviewed 21 February 2013

I wouldn't have expected such slow play on a winter weekday. Sometimes there was a group on the green, one or even two groups waiting in the fairway, and one or two groups waiting to tee off. The friendly ranger frequently came by with updates but seemed powerless to hurry the slowpokes along. It seems the tee times are spaced too closely, at about 7 minutes apart.
The course is suffering from the semi-drought - thin fairways and uneven, bumpy grass on the greens. The sand in the bunkers is of good quality, though. There are houses on nearly every hole, which makes for some noise and isn't very attractive.
It was hard to find the 10th tee; an additional sign or two would have been welcome.

“Public Restaurant and Public Golf Course - Who knew?”
Reviewed 3 January 2013

This is the best kept secret in St Augustine. I've lived in St Augustine for 7 years now and just found out that St Johns Golf & Country Club is a Public Course and The Restaurant is open to the public too. The restaurant is called The Grille Room at St Johns Golf & CC.

The Golf Course is in great shape with all the rain, the cost for the round is very low compared to the surrounding courses.

The Grille Room Restaurant was excellent. The Chef was amazing. I can't wait to take my Wife and kids to breakfast on Sunday (Kids eat free on Sunday mornings).

“Always a Good Round”
Reviewed 20 November 2012

This course is always kept in good shape. Semi-private with a private club feel and service.

Tough layout, some tight holes. Greens were running very fast. No over seeding for Winter, leaves the fairways a little dry and thin in spots, but other than that no problems.

The usual good service from the pro shop, starter, cart guys, and bar staff. Steady flow of golfers, but only slowed down on the last couple holes, played on a Tuesday afternoon.

“Fantastic Greens, Nice Layout, Good Facility”
Reviewed 23 May 2012

Best greens I've played in a long time, just perfect. Rolling about an 11-12, perfectly consistent, smooth, firm. Course is on good shape, a few small dry spots in the fairways due to hardly any rain recently in the area. Played on a Thursday afternoon, other groups out, but not crowded. Decent grill room and pro shop. Functional range and putting area, starter booth to keep it flowing. Beverage cart came around 3-4x in the round and let us know when she was calling it quits.

Go for the greens, treat yourself to quality golf.
