“Tight, unfair course”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

This is a great value for a course in excellent shape. That is where it stops. The course has narrow tree lined fairways. If you are slightly offline, you roll over the moguls deep into the wasteland, swamp or water. Greens are good but slow and hold the ball. The course's layout is good but disjointed and you drive excessively far from hole to hole. Too many hidden greens. If you are a decent golfer who hits it down the middle all the time your in luck.this is a great value. Practice facilities are ok, but the practice green is a block away, but near the first tee with an arrogant starter. There was No fast food available between 9's, not even a shrivelled hotdog so come prepared. Expect 4,30 or more. No carts in parking lot, and we waited 15 minutes to get. Have basic gps on cart, but no pictures of hazards, but lots of advertising.

“only for scratch golfers on marginal weather days”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2014

We played here in February on a nice day. We teed off half an hour late as they were very backed up. We quit four and a half hours later after only finishing 13 holes. My father, who has been golfing for over 50 years, said it was the worst golfing experience he had ever had. Not only had they crammed too many golfers onto the course, but the course itself has very narrow fairways. With very thin rough this time of year, there was nothing to keep even slightly mishit balls from rolling into ponds or thick woods where they were then lost. On one tee, I exclaimed to no one in particular that I hated the course. One guy in the group behind us replied "then it is unanimous". He went on to say that he was averaging one lost ball on each hole. I would only recommend this course for very good golfers on days when the course is likely to be uncrowded.

“Hit the links with THE BEST COURSE for the money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2014

Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club, target golf makes every shot important. Choose your tee box for your abilities and know that wind will be a factor in many of your shots. Course is challenging for all golfers at every level. Course is well maintained and the club house and pro shop have great food and bar as well as great deals on equipment. The Course winds through the Royal St. Augustine housing community. Golf carts have GPS on them and use it. Blind shots can get you into lots of trouble. Friendly staff. Course has a driving range, too. Long hitters as well as average players would love this course.. Beginners beware. My favorite course in St. Augustine and Jacksonville area.

“Good moderate course but still forgiving.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2013 via mobile

Course was well maintained, and fairly priced for a weekday round. Clubhouse sells Warrior Golf equipment, and had much of it on sale. Enjoyed the course, not overly difficult, and fun to play. Houses line the course, and on some holes become the hazard themselves. Will be back, great value for a beautiful course.

“Tough course for beginners”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2013

I played this course once last year and once again today. I am new to the game and found RSA to be well beyond my skill level.

I used my 3 wood off the tees and some of the shots were quite good; however, if they varied slightly off dead center (many of them did) my ball ended up in the water or the woods. The moguls can make a decent shot turn out terrible because the ball just rolls downhill into water or woods.

I've read a number of reviews on RSA and wasn't quite sure what the term "target golf" meant.
I know now!

The fairways were in good shape and the greens were excellent, but anything outside the narrow fairways was in straw-like grass that did not stop the ball from rolling downhill.

All-in-all I enjoyed the experience, but I will probably play elsewhere until my skill level improves.
