My husband and I were visiting St. Augustine from South Florida for the first time. Staff was extremely nice and so very helpful. Our room was spacious and clean and we enjoyed the style and decor. We loved that it felt like a bed and breakfast without really being one. The St. George Inn is really located in the best spot. Being right across the Castillo de San Marcos was so convenient and we visited often. We were close to lovely shops and great restaurants. We kept saying throughout our stay how happy we were that we chose St. George!

I was traveling with my two children, ages 9 and 13, on our way to the Keys. We had a great stay. The room was large, the air conditioned work great, and the staff was very courteous. If you want to stay close to the old town, this is it.

The hotel provided excellent service and I felt welcomed, like a true guest. This hotel is a good choice for people wanting extra attention than a chain hotel provides and more "freedom" than a bed and breakfast. The room was very nice and comfortable for our group of four women. The location is excellent with a parking garage just up the street. It was a great two day get away and there is no need to drive anywhere. The trolley stop is right out in front and stops at all the points of interest in the city. Many restaurants, shops and historical sights are within walking distance. I bought the entertainment book for $15.00 and used a lot of buy one get one free coupons for the trolley and museums. Everyone in our group were in agreement that the St. George Inn was a great place to stay!

My wife and I stayed two nights at St. George Inn and we wish we could have stayed longer. We booked through the hotel's website. The hotel occupies the top floors of a boutique shopping area built around a courtyard.

Location
It couldn't be more central to St. Augustine's attractions. It's across the street from the old fort, Castillo de San Marcos, and at the northern end of St. George Street, the central street of shops. We found the shops of St. Augustine more interesting than the shops of Savannah or Charleston. It's quite a feeling to walk down the stairs from our room and find ourselves in the middle of the shopping and touring area. It's a five minute walk to Collage restaurant where we had a delightful Maine lobster and lobster ravioli and the service was very friendly. The owner offered to lend us umbrellas for the walk back to the hotel, but it had stopped raining by the time we finished eating.

Hospitality
The Google map directions tried to route us to the hotel through Fort Alley which now is closed to automobiles. So Paul, the man at the desk, kept us on the cell phone and talked us in to the hotel through one-way streets. We unloaded in front of the hotel, and he helped bring our (heavy) bag up two flights of stairs up to room 27. The hotel appears to be family-run, and we were received as honored guests. We met Irving most frequently at the desk and in the lobby. He followed up after our stay with an e-mail asking for any suggestions for improvement.

Parking
The $5 a day added to our bill was money well spent. You can come and go as many times as you want, and there is plenty of room in the public parking garage, about 3 minutes walk away. The hotel buys monthly parking passes and provides them to guests at cost.

Room amenities
Room 27 had a great view of Castillo de San Marco from the window in front of the writing desk, which encouraged us to write at the desk more frequently than normal. The air conditioner was placed to blow across the bed, but we were able to aim the flow of cold air downward, and we slept comfortably. The in-room free wi-fi signal was of low strength, but it seemed to work all of the time.

Quiet enjoyment
We heard the couple in the next room talking for about 15 minutes, but aside from that we did not hear neighbor noise. During tour hours, you can hear the happy sound of tour groups arriving back at the tour assemply area under the window. We felt there were no annoying noises, and we enjoyed being in the middle of St. Augustine activity.

Breakfast
We found breakfast to be a simple but enjoyable experience. We ate the continental breakfast at the small tables around the fountain in the courtyard. Eating outside to the sound of the water fountain and chirping birds was a wonderful way to start the day. Bread, bagels, croissants, and blueberry muffins were provided with cheese, peanut butter, jam, and cream cheese. Coffee and tea were available with orange juice and yoghurt.

Of all the six hotels where we stayed during this trip, St. George Inn is the one we recall most fondly--and we stayed at some really wonderful hotels. We recommend it for those who want a romantic and relaxing time.

Wonderful small hotel in the heart of St. Augustine. Our room was wonderfu, spacious and quaint. The balcony overlooking the courtyard and fountain was beautful; Peaceful in the morning while eating the complimentary breakfast, and fun and active in the late afternoon. Breakfast was very nice. Hotel staff were friendly and genuinely attached to the hotel and guests' experience. A great place to stay with kids. It has a B&B feel without the expense and age restrictions for kids.

I submitted a review of this Inn a couple of weeks which included those things that were unsatisfactory and disappointed us. The owner of the Inn contacted us, we discussed those deficiencies, and he gave us a partial refund for our stay. In addition, he said in his letter that those things we identified had since been repaired. Because of this exemplary customer service, we will definitely consider staying at the St. George Inn in St. Augustine again should our travels take us there. Thank you for recognizing the importance of good customer service!
