We have stayed at this inn many times and until recently have been very impressed. Last year we were disappointed with some cleanliness issues and this year there was no improvement, There was dust behind the furniture and the bathroom floor was unclean but the biggest problem was the blinds covering the door. This is a first floor room facing the garden and the blinds were in a disgusting state - many were broken and three were missing completely meaning that the security lights from the garden shone into the room all night long making it impossible to sleep. When we complained the next day we were told it was up to the owners to replace them. We expressed our displeasure and while we were out they did make an attempt to mend them - they in fact replaced the missing ones with some obviously from another room and although it worked to a point they kept falling off when opened or closed. Also there were four people in the room and one day one of our beds was not made. When we asked why we were told "it had been pulled back neatly" so they assumed it meant we did not want it made (!). The sofa was terrible, virtually impossible to sit on. The carpet had seen better days and the walls are a very dark color and as the room faces the garden with lots of trees it is always dark in the room and the light has to be on constantly. We travel with our dog and are charged $15 per night pet fee which we are happy to pay as we assume it is because the rooms are cleaned more thoroughly, We noticed that each day the carpet got messier and during the three days we were there it was never vacuumed. We asked why our room had not been cleaned and was told that vacuuming is not part of the maid service - why do we pay a pet fee? All our comments were written on the comment card in the room, expressed to a staff member and written in an email but we received no feedback from the agents. This is our favorite place to stay when we visit St Augustine so we are sorry to have these problems.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the marina are better than the garden facing rooms in my opinion,

The location is good, very convenient and picturesque. We were in room 26 which sleeps 4. Rooms 25 and 27 on either side of 26 sleep 6. I understand there is always the luck of the draw on who will be in the room next to yours but there is a major sound transferal problem in the rooms. When the A/C goes on in any room next to yours or even below yours, it sounds like it is in your room. They have metal tables and chairs, very nice, but when moving them on tile or the laminate floor, they make very loud noises that travel through the wood frame floor. With the extra people in those rooms, sounded as there was furniture being moved most of the night. The decor is old, pickled oak from the 80's. The back deck is nice, faces the marina, the table out there was covered with food grease and beer bottle caps were on the deck. It is not private and if you don’t smoke and are next to people who do, you have to stay indoors. There is a private patio as you enter the room but it amplifies sounds of the people (6) next door. The breakfast at the Fish tales was ok, we did not expect more. The 4 selections were clearly described on the back of the coupon. It was small but had out door seating. Overall, it was not the cleanest or quietest place but the location was good.

Room Tip: Top floor a must but skip room 26

I read the reviews and decided to stay at this Inn for a few days. I was very disappointed. I had to ask for a clean comforter and blanket. Both were stained. The bathroom was moldy and the walls and door were in need of cleaning and fresh paint. The television had so much dust on the screen that it was unbelievable. The outside deck that was connected to our room was filthy There were dead roaches on the bedroom carpet.....housekeeping did not vacuum the bugs up when they visited our room....need I say more?
The staff consisted of one person that sat behind the desk and surfed the Internet. The person was nice and helpful if we ask for help.

Room Tip: Check the downtown historic area for a different Inn or Hotel

Camachee, Manager at Inn at Camachee Harbor, responded to this reviewResponded 3 December 2013

We are sorry that this reviewer's stay did not live up to their standards. As one of the most common compliments our inn receives is on the cleanliness of housekeeping, we are unsure why this guest says they had such a bad experience.

Being a small, 19 room inn, we do not require more than one staff member on duty at all times, as that would be wasteful. In the evenings, after all daily work has been completed, the staff member who is working will sit at the front desk as much as possible to answer phones and be available for guests. This is a matter of accessibility and convenience to our guests, and they certainly are not simply "browsing the internet" (all reservations, inventory, and website management occurs on the computer).

I had a very pleasant off-season stay at the Inn at Camachee Harbor. My room overlooked the marina - as do most - and the view was perfect. The staff was fairly friendly and I enjoyed the breakfast at the Fishtales. I also loved being so close to the Kingfish Grill, a superb seafood eatery. The room was very comfortable, clean and wel set up with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Nice widescreen TV to boot. I would recommend TIACH to anyone who like a nice quiet place to stay with a picturesque view.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 20 which has an extra large wrap-around balcony - just wonderful.

Stayed at the Inn mid-November, 2013. Loved everything about the place!! Had a waterview room overlooking the Harbor, beautiful lights at night. Room was well decorated and soo comfortable. Convenient to have good food within walking distance, both at Fishtales for breakfast and Kingfish Grill for dinner.

We were thrilled with our stay at Inn at Camachee Harbor. The rooms were clean, spacious and beautiful. The view of the harbor was gorgeous, and the location couldn't have been better. We brought our little dog with us and he was very welcomed. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and the free breakfast we received from Fish Tales was delicious. We will definately be returning!

The Inn rooms are all individually owned, so interiors are owner preference. Management on site is wonderful and helpful. Willing to make your stay a good one. Use the website to look at rooms before you book or call the Inn, staff will be happy to describe rooms, help you decide. We had room 20, end unit overlooking the marina. Gorgeous view! Room was big and perfect for my husband and me. Very big deck that wrapped around to side of room. Interior was typical beach condo type furniture, a little worn, not brand new but clean and comfortable. Bed linens, towels, etc were all clean and fresh. TV is new flat screen and other in-room ammenities were newer also. We really enjoyed our stay. Our friend stayed in room 15 which is a garden view (lovely private porch and lush greenery all around). It was recently renovated and beautiful with hardwood floors, everything very new. Inn location is a perfect place for us outside the touristy areas, relaxed and convenient to St. Augustine, Cresent Beach and Vilano. Has onsite restaurant with good food and great atmosphere.
