“GREAT PLACE TO STAY”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

We absolutely loved this lovely B&B in the historic district of St. Augustine. Breakfasts were yummy, the whirlpool bath great, the room spacious for a B&B and the location perfect. So what more could you ask for. We would come here again, if we ever venture back to the best place in Florida.

Room Tip: We loved the first floor suite..we had a heavy suitcase to lift and we're so happy not to have t...

We had stayed in another B&B awhile back. Peace and Plenty Inn is far better than the one we had stayed in. I would highly recommend it to family and friends. The staff are very courteous and make you feel right at home. The room we stayed in was beautiful and very clean. We will return for another stay in the future.

Loved the location, service, food, room, Christmas decorations , and the fireplace.
My son and I stopped on our way North for the holidays. We had a very special stay and enjoyed our visit immensely. We spent about as much as we would have in a hotel in about the same location, but we got the quaint and cozy feel of St Augustine in this first rate Bed and Breakfast. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to stay again.

Room Tip: Stay here at Christmas.. It is the best residental street for decorations.

We stayed at the Peace and Palnty Inn during a cold snap in St. Augustine. We like the central location of the place, the heating system in our room, the overactive jacuzzi, the availability of a variety of beverages and evening snacks, and the very fine breakfast. Glenna was very attentive to our needs and a couple of her helpers gave us good advice with travel directions. The Japanese-themed room we stayed in was clean and interestingly appointed, and, while it wa small, it worked for us. In general, it was a very pleasant stay and great value for the money.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are in the carriage house, which means you have to go outside for a short distance...

The Innkeeper Glenna was very sweet. Breakfast was delicious. Complimentary beer, wine, soda, water 24/7.The room was awesome and the bed was so comfortable. Lots of privacy in the backyard, beautiful fountain and a fireplace. Very close to everything. We loved it! We'll be back.

We are sad to say that this B and B was disappointing. With a combined sixty years of experience in hospitality and tourism in Niagara, we offer the following pros and cons in hopes of helping potential guests make an informed decision about whether or not they would choose to stay here. We would not return nor can we recommend it.

Please accept the pros and cons in the spirit in which they are provided. While we have stayed in B and B properties in more than 50 countries over a period of 40 years, we would never suggest you substitute our judgment for your own. That being said, here goes:

The B and B itself:

Pro: "Location, location, location": On a quiet street within walking distance of everything in the historic district and with off street parking

Con: Not nearly as luxurious as is promoted.

Con: Sour inn keeper. Not at all what a B and B staff member should be. The inn keeper never once introduced herself to us or called us by name. Ever.

As a matter of fact once she ran the credit card she barely said two words: certainly not the way to treat "valued guests."

In every B and B we have ever stayed (until this one) the inn keeper or rep thereof would come through to say Good morning and inquire about breakfast at a minimum. That certainly did not happen here! The level of indifference was one we have never encountered at a B and B before. Ever. It is actually quite shocking...pretentious too and without reason.

For us, this is the greatest reason for the poor rating.

Con: The overall property could use some sprucing up.

It is hard to imagine that as the website states "the garden has been the perfect romantic backdrop to weddings, engagements, and couples who just want to get away from it all."

The garden furniture has certainly seen better days and was downright dirty. The cushions were actually green with moss, must and mildew. The second day of our stay it appeared to have been neatened a wee bit, but the first day it was a complete mess.

The Bed of B and B:

Pro: Firm mattress and good quality linens, along with towels and robes

Con: Less than spacious bedroom. We are not large people and still had to turn to get by on either side of the bed. Any one "wider" would have difficulty.

Con: Staining on the walls in the bathroom with the grout/caulking pulling away from the tub
(nothing some paint and a tube of caulking wouldn't fix) Again, blatant indifference.

Con: Plastic flowers!!!!

Con: Fake fireplace in the parlour

The Breakfast of B and B:

Pro: Ample servings

Con: Very ordinary and certainly not gourmet as advertised. No "chef" would serve or present two little sausages as these were!

Con: Very narrow and inflexible window of 9-10 a.m. While some guests may enjoy sleeping in, one hour is very inflexible for guests who rise early, have plans or are travelling. Again, not what a B and B is about.

B and B hospitality (and especially at the rates charged here) is meant to be about guests and not the convenience of the employees. We might have guessed this when we read that if guests did not check in within a certain time frame, there would be an extra $25.00 charge. Not very welcoming.

Pro: Coffee was available beginning at 6 a.m. while waiting until 9 a.m. for food

Con: It was not good and not hot.

Other amenities: Pro and Con

Wifi: Wifi was available and "included"

Mini fridge: The mini fridge in the parlour did have soda (off brand coke and diet coke), water (store brand), wine (red and white, decanted) and beer (Coors Light but no imports as stated in previous reviews).

Evening cake: There were sweets and port/sherry left out in the evening which was a nice touch. "Left out" is appropriate since they were "dropped on the table" without a word. They were fine but there is certainly doubt about them being homemade, as previous reviews have mentioned.

Summary: Overall this was not the experience we expected from a B & B that markets itself so highly. Above all, the Terrell brothers need to find an inn keeper who might actually introduce herself, smile and call paying guests by their names. Over rated, over priced = poor value.

Good value, nice surroundings, close to everything, walking distance not a problem. Both jetted tub and separate shower in our room with privacy on first floor and separate outside door. Will be coming back.
