This is an awesome find, just around the corner from Flagler College. It's cute and the hostess/owner, Glenna, is wonderful. She is a valuable resource of places to go and makes the best crepes!

We stayed here recently for the first part of our much needed, and much anticipated vacation. We chose this particular B&B due to the reviews here on TA, and because of the great location. We are pretty laid back travelers and have stayed in a variety of places that range from budget motels to luxury properties. That being said, we are not picky but we do expect the quality and service to be on par with what we are paying. This review is long, but thorough, because I base a lot on the reviews that I read on here when I am looking for a place to stay, sight see, etc... so I apologize for the length of the review in advance. Here goes:

The Owner: She was nice and gave us a map and suggestions for where to have dinner when we checked in. The only thing that we found a bit odd was that she had already charged our credit card when we got there and we were checking in during regular hours, not late check-in.

The House: Meh. I've seen better and I've seen worse. Had that old house smell...but it's an old house. There is a tent outside for smokers. As I said before, the location is great in relation to the historic attractions, everything is within reasonable walking distance if you are able-bodied and fairly active.

The Room: We stayed in the Prosperity Suite. The room is spacious and has a small sitting area, the bed is comfortable, there is a nice view of Flagler College from the window. There are books and city guides in the room; there is an electric fireplace. The room was in need of some TLC, the carpet needs cleaning, there was paint peeling on the walls, and it looks as if someone started painting the trim and just stopped halfway through the job...it is 2 different colors. Also, the decor didn't really make sense and there were a bunch of creepy dolls in the room.

The Bathroom: Larger than expected, has a shower/jetted tub combo, a closet with robes (not great), and room to hang your clothes. Didn't notice until after we used the tub that there was mildew and mold on it. Also there is a vent in that bathroom that is rusted and mildewed and needs to be replaced. There was a hairdryer and the standard shampoo and lotion in the room, as well as q-tips and cotton squares, but the worst thing about the bathroom was the toilet paper. It was atrociously thin! Also, for those who may be sensitive to having their privacy...it should be noted that the bathroom wall where the door is located doesn't go all the way to the ceiling, it stops about 2 feet before.

The Food: We only had breakfast once during our stay. It was really bad. Rubbery microwaved egg dish with sausages and fruit. Yes, there was cereal and yogurt available but, if you are paying for the experience of staying in a B&B, the breakfast should be amazing. I will admit I am a bit of a foodie but my spouse is not picky at all and couldn't eat it. After reading all the reviews about how everyone was so impressed with the breakfast and referring to it as "the best breakfast I have ever had", we were just shocked at how bad it was! The coffee was even bad...we were again, shocked. The mini fridge in the parlor had soda (coke and diet coke), water (store brand), wine (red and white, decanted) and beer (Bud and Miller, but no imports as stated in previous reviews). The sweets and port and sherry left out in the evening is a nice touch and were not bad, but I have my doubts about them being homemade, as previous reviews had mentioned.

Misc.: The parking is great and you don't need your car unless you are venturing out toward the beaches. The housekeeping was ok. There was a small boy (about 3 yrs old) meandering about the property while we were there, and thought that was odd but determined that he was the housekeeper's son? He wasn't a bother but it was odd nonetheless.

Overall the place is just ok. I certainly expected a lot more due to the reviews. It just seemed like there was nothing special about the property really, other than the location. It wasn't the worst place we've ever stayed but we would not be inclined to stay here again. We were expecting much more attention to detail, and just wondering why our experience with regard to the food was so much different from other posters?

Our stay at Peace and Plenty in was fantastic. It was the first of 4 B&B's that we stayed in during a road trip, and it was unsurpassable. The owner had drinks (including wine and beer) available all day, she had wonderful snacks available in the main living area after your day, and the rooms were quite large. (We were in the carriage house.) Breakfast was out of this world too- a rich, homemade frittata with fresh fruit, fresh juices, and extras like cereals and yogurt. It was the best bed and breakfast we have ever been to. It was fantastic for couples-- quite a romantic place.

As an older newlywed couple, we wanted a place to stay that offered comfort, privacy and a
close proximity to the culture of St. Augustine. "Peace and Plenty" offered all that and more.
Our room was lovely and very clean. Breakfasts were terrific and the hospitality of the innkeeper was great. We enjoyed our entire experience at "Peace and Plenty."

We spent the night at the Peace & Plenty for our anniversary. We chose this B&B based on other reviews, the room availability, and the location. Although it is mentioned on the website, we were very surprised that our suite (Serenity 2) had 3 rooms plus a large private bathroom. The jacuzzi tub was large, however, the shower was small, but that is to be expected in a restored home.

The rooms were tastefully decorated and beyond comfortable. The bed was perfect.

We enjoyed a delicious Belgium waffle breakfast in the morning and appreciated the tables for two. While we enjoy getting to know other travellers, it was nice to sit by ourselves for our anniversary. We've stayed in other inns and shared a large table, but the privacy this time was appreciated.

The street was very quiet and besides the water from the outdoor fountain, we couldn't hear a thing outside our room at night.

Glenna was accommodating and helpful upon check-in and even gave us a business card to show at dinner at the Columbia Restaurant for a free sangria or flan. Upon returning from dinner, we enjoyed the dessert and refreshments available in the parlor.

We would (and already have) recommend this bed and breakfast to family and friends. We had such a relaxing and wonderful stay.

My wife and I decided to spend our 16th anniversary in St. Augustine and chose the Peace and Plenty Inn for our stay. We made a WONDERFUL choice, this place was great! Mia was our stand in hostess for our stay and she was amazing! AS soon as we arrived she handed our maps and told us great places to grab a bite to eat for the evening. After dinner at A1A (we had a new server so service was extremely slow) we walk through St. George Street to get a idea of what to get into the next day. Upon arriving back Mia had laid out a wonderful assortment of light pastries and brownies that were still warm. The complimentary wine, beer, and soft drinks really hit the spot. We stayed in the Tranquility suite which included a private porch facing Cedar Street, enabling us to watch the carriages parade in front of the house with their couples. The next day Mia gave of ideas on where to go and made dinner reservations that night for us, she was the best!

The breakfast each morning were delicious and filling. Both of us were so full from our breakfast each day that we had to eat a late lunch because of us being so full. We both hated to leave and go back to the real world. The Peace and Plenty Inn is a wonderful place for a romantic getaway and I highly recommend it.

Perfect stay at this little gem of a B&B.

The room was stunning and had direct access to the gorgeous garden at the back of the house. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was huge and simply beautiful, with a powerful shower, jacuzzi batth and original stained-glass window! Everything was in keeping with the age and history of the property and felt very luxurious.

My only gripe is there was hardly any room to walk about the room, the bed was enormous and seemed to have been 'crammed' into the room. For only 1 night though, this wasn't really a problem for us.

The fridge in the sitting room was full of complimentary drinks, including beer & speciality beer, red & white wine and soft drinks. Then, only moments after taking our pick and sitting down, the owner Glenda arrived with port, sherry and a selection of mouth-watering cakes and chocolates! It was very special and welcoming.

I was a little disappointed with breakfast the next morning but that may be because I'm from the UK and it may be a US speciality - it was sausages, cream, icing sugar, a savory-tasting pancake and fruit - all on the same plate... It tasted odd and unfortunately 3 out of 4 of our party agreed it was bizarre and quite inedible. The B&B has a different hot item every morning however, so I guess it was just our bad luck... It was lovely though to take our coffee and juice and sit on the verandah outside, you could practically feel the history of the place.

The garden has a huge fountain more suited to a royal residence, with a lovely tented area for smokers with comfortable chairs and tables. Sitting there late in the evening listening to the bull-frogs' mating call was wonderful (and very noisy!).

There is a lot of information scattered about in relation to the history of the house and St Augustine itself, which made very interesting reading and Glenda was only too happy to explain further. Glenda was also only too happy to make recommendations for restaurants (A1A Aleworks was excellent). Glenda respected her guests' privacy and didn't hang about getting over-friendly and nosy like some B&B owners we have found.

The Peace & Plenty Inn was the best value for money stay that we had during our road-trip down the East Coast and we found ourselves being very disappointed we were only staying for 1 night. Very highly recommended!
