“A freat family restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

We were given the name of this restaurant when we asked our hotel staff for a reasonable but good seafood restaurant. We visited the restaurant 2 times. on the first we took advantage of the special of 12 shrimp fried plus french fries or baked potato and saw or salad and hush puppies for a remarkable price of 9.25. the second time we went there for under 10 dollars I chose breaded and my wife broiled pork chops plus 2 sides. needless to say the food was excelent and portions were of a size that sent us back to the hotel with go boxes.

“Shoulda gone to Applebee's”

Overpriced and expensive, no substitutions on a combo platter, just plain no, coleslaw tasted like a chemical was in it, stuffed shrimp was deep fried. Not a good experience.

“Excellent service, huge portions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014 via mobile

We went to Schooner's on the recommendation of a local. Glad we did. The service was excellent. The portions were enormous. If I had known that, we would have shared some dinners. We did get the crab fritters as an appetizer and they were spectacular! The waitress said they were known for their shrimp, so that is what I got along with some Mahi Mahi. The shrimp was really good and the fish was a bit dry. The onion rings were homemade and delicious - so worth the calories! There were 5 in our party and we each got some form of the shrimp, which was quite tasty. It was all fried and that is not something I usually get, but it was good and I would go back, but we would share dinners!

“Eat with the locals.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

Lucked up on this place on the north side of town. Unlike so many restaurants around Saint Augustine, parking is easy and free. You'll notice all the local cars when you drive through. Very reasonable pricing and just plain good food. Fried seafood battered (but not too heavy) was good and vegetables were fresh. Fantastic value for families. Stopped in for lunch and although so many restaurants we wanted to try we went back for dinner the next night.

“Good food with poor service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

This is a VERY busy place on the weekends. We arrived early (around 5:30) and waited about 30 min. for a table, which seemed reasonable. Once seated, our waitress seemed inconvenienced by our presence. Everything was slow and our food came warm, not hot. My husband had to ask twice for the beer he ordered. Good flavor, but we were not impressed. I honestly don't understand why they were busy to begin with.
