For the past six years I have worked at near-by Jacksonville for summer employment. As a U.S. history teacher, I absolutely love this place. Free of the crass materialism that has overrun such a historical gem in St. Augustine, this is a beautiful, peaceful place. Although not a Roman Catholic, I feel closer to God here than anyplace I have been. The gardens are beautiful and my favorite place is the swings on the waterfront near the cross. The museum and the gift shop are first rate. I urge anybody who comes to St. Augustine to avoid the tourist-traps in the city and visit this wonderful place.
