“King Suite with Jacuzzi Tub”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

My wife and I stayed in the Jacuzzi Suite. The Jacuzzi tub was very nice, but is hidden in the bathroom. There is an opening between the tub and the room, but the television can not be seen. The shower is extremely small. The name of the hotel is a little misleading, especially from the first floor. At best you can see the grassy hillside leading to the beach. Overall we had a very romantic evening and would probably stay here again.

This hotel was across the street from the beach with cranes, and other machinery in the way of your "view". We rented on the 2nd floor - a must (or 3rd floor). Beachgoers park in front on the ground level. This beach allows cars to drive on to it - the sand is horrible and certainly not what we expected. We couldn't wait to leave.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

We got this hotel from a coupon book as we were heading to cocoa beach but decided to look for somewhere on the way down and found this,My wife was not feeling very well suffering from tonsilitus (strep throat) so a nice ocean view was the order of the day and this hotel has nice ocean views,The breakfast was of a continental type with some little rolls filled with sausage patties to microwave,Yes it doe's need some renovation and the old building over the road is a bit off putting but the trees and bushes are growing over and round it so evetually you will not be able to see it and its close to a new publix (walking distance)

This hotel is very close to the beach. Yes there is an old closed down restaurant between you and the beach. But if you rent your room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, on the north or south end of the building, you will have a nice ocean view from your private balcony. We stayed in room 210. A king sized bed, large jetted tub. The room is on the south end, 2nd floor. Great view of the ocean. Wi-fi worked fine, it was clean, and the a/c worked great. The location is very quiet, and away from all the noise and congestion of downtown. There is a Publix grocery store a few blocks away, and a pizza place, but that's about it. Very short drive to historic St. Augustine, approximately 5-10 minutes. We enjoyed it, and are going back again in September 2013.

Room Tip: Rent a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, on the south or north end of the building to get the best ocean...

We booked a third floor room after looking at the Oceanview Lodge's website. The pictures on their website are very misleading. The room looked dirty (stains) and outdated. The bed looked old and lumpy. There was rust and mold in the bathroom. The pool was the smallest hotel/motel pool I've ever seen. The ocean view was obstructed by a building. The breakfast could not have been much since the serving area was very tiny. The room was way over priced for what it was. They would not refund our money, but I could not make myself stay there.

We went to the Hampton Inn next door and got a beautiful clean room with a king size bed for $50 cheaper. It wasn't an ocean view room technically, but we had a great view of the ocean between the buildings. They also served a full hot breakfast.

After booking and then reading some reviews I had wondered what we had gotten ourselves into. I must say, what a grand surprise!!! We booked for the 3rd floor. Room #309 was our room for four wonderful nights. We stayed May 13th-May 17th. Our room was exceptionally clean. One of the cleanest I've ever seen. I am one to check around the baseboards in the bath and to look hard at tubs, showers, and toliets. All exceptionally clean. I could not have done a better job myself. The room even smelled fresh and clean when we first walked in. I also check the beds closely. After all you will be sleeping in them and I also look for signs of bed bugs. One can never be to safe. The beds, covers, pillows etc all exceptionally clean! Our refrigerator worked very well and even had a freezer to it. We had a very nice beach view and the old building so many have mentioned did not keep us from having a nice view! We did learn for the sweet lady at the desk that the building is owned by the county and is scheduled to be torn down next month. The ladies were very excited about it being gone soon. The hotel is just a short walk to the beach with a short pier to gain entrance. It's location is in a wonderful location and a nice walk to the Vilano Beach pier. There is a Publixs in walking distance for any needs you may have. We certainly enjoyed our visit and was able to have 4 great nights of sleep. Not to sound like everything was perfect. There were a couple things to improve on. My husband could not get the internet connection in the room. The ladies were very nice about it and offered to have someone look at it. But, instead he opted to just go at night to the office for a short while and do what he needed there. He did tell them they may want to look into it for the guest who comes along. The stopper in the tub would not stay up when trying to drain water after a shower or bath. We used a razor to prop it open for draining. This wasn't a huge problem but for some it could be I guess. The one thing that I would change is the towels provided. They do provide extra which was very nice to have. However, the towels have been washed many times and are very thin. I think a small investment for newer towels would be a wonderful idea. At least they were only thin and not at all stained which was a plus. Also, since the door is an outside door it would have been nice to have had an extra lock inside for security. There was holes where a latch hook had been but since had been removed. At no time did we feel unsafe but that would be something to consider in the future to make others more comfortable. We were very impressed that when we arrived the room was ready and we arrived around noon. The lady at the desk had everything figured up exactly right and very complete. We had already paid for the first night and she had a receipt ready for us. We even booked back in February making how orderly she was more impressive. We also noticed the hotel is pet friendly. Which we saw as a plus considering this trip we boarded our little fella but in the future will travel with him. I would recommand the Ocean View Lodge to family & friends!

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms have the best view.

We have never been here but were pleased overall. It looks as if it went through a recent upgrade. The rooms were clean and grounds nicely manicured. Just steps away from the beach and walking distance from Publix and other shopping.
We would definitely come back.
