We have stayed at Laterra about 6 times in the past 8 years so we knew what to expect. The pros for us: a great condo (very clean) with full kitchen, washer/dryer, a very quiet and beautiful property with a great pool. The negatives: check in is off site and unprofessional with a staff in shorts set up in a makeshift thrown together office. The property has a guard gate and we got the third degree twice on entry...despite having keys and check in papers. The units are in three buildings...in all past stays we were overlooking the pool. On this stay we were in a side building overlooking the parking lot. Still great for a very quiet place to stay and only 15 miles from St. Augustine.

Staying in St. Augustine can be costly, but hotels.com found this gem for less than $100.00 a night. The King and Bear is a beautiful gated community a few miles from the ocean and 1mile off I-95. The condo style rooms are small, the A/C is noisy, the balcony was a haven for cobwebs spiders and hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The layout is great with stove, fridge, diswasher, dishes, pots and pans and granite countertop bar. Overall 4 stars for the price verses amenities.

Romantic, quiet...room was perfect. It did not have wifi but who cares. Convenient to all of St.Augustine 7 mins away. Who wants to stay on a busy street with traffic rushing by and people slamming doors all night (downtown)...this place is exclusive. No front desk we picked up our key on a Saturday at the nearby realty office...no hassle at all...

Room Tip: It looks just like the pictures here...only better.

Be aware this is not a hotel or resort, no staff ! No front desk! Its a ghost town! The outside structure is beautiful, however once you are inside of your room its totally different. Our room bathtub and sink had plumming issues, and the bathroom looked kind ot dirty. In general i will not stay in such unpleasant place again ...

Our bathtub didn't drain and had hair and dirt in it. There is no staff on the weekend which is ridiculous! No restaurant, food, drinks, service, nothing! How can they call this a resort??? No wifi, which was a huge deal for us with demanding jobs. No television in the bedroom. This place is an absolute joke!
