“Hidden gem is right!”

Stokes Landing Conservation Area
Reviewed 6 May 2017

Multiple connected short trails featuring slash pine, live oak, palmettos (Sabal palmetto), dwarf palmettos (Sabal minor), and wetlands. Tucked away like a private back yard. Consider wearing closed-toed shoes and bug spray.

We rode our bikes around the paths and first went to the outlook tower which gave a lovely view of the marsh and intracoastal; and then went to the "marsh" outlook which didn't have any place to really enjoy the view. It is buggy, so use lots of repellent - I suspect going there is December would be beautiful to walk or bike ride. We took a few wrong turns so there are some paths that are well tred but have no markers so keep a look out for the white or yellow diamond markings on the trees. We enjoyed it as a quick and close to home excursion out to see a new view.

I haven't fully explored this conservation area yet but took a quick hike to the observation tower and was "Wowed"! Beautiful, quiet, and peaceful area with marked trails for hiking. Make sure to wear bug spray because you will likely encounter yellow flies on the trail. Very annoying but worth the view at the observation tower and on the trail itself. Reminds me of what old Florida must have been like.

There is a picnic area but I did not have a chance to visit there yet. No restrooms. Dogs allowed but must be leashed.
