“Walking distance to downtown”
Reviewed 9 June 2014 via mobile

The rooms were average, but clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and had many options not just typical continental. Waffle station, eggs and sausage and traditional items. Rooms were kind of pricey for what you received, but we spent most of our time out of the room. Very close to all of the best restaurants, sites and shopping.

I drove around the property twice and couldn't find my room- #101. Reason? It is blocked by the pool- in fact, the sauna is about 3 feet from my door. I asked for another room, and although I heard her say there were 4 rooms left, she would not give me a different room.
First thing I saw was a huge stain on the carpet upon entering the room. Other than that, the room was fairly clean.
Worst of all, I had a terrible night's sleep because the air conditioner made LOUD noises all night long- clicking constantly.
My granddaughter did enjoy the pool!

Room Tip: DONT take room 101.

Let me set the stage for you. Its Memorial Day weekend, Thursday afternoon, and we pull up to the "Quality" Inn to check in - we are the ONLY car! That should have been our sign to circle right through the parking lot, speed off and never look back. We reluctantly check in and haul everything up the filthy staircase to our room. Immediately upon entering, we smell a horrible moldy, musty smell. The room is approximately 40 degrees. The carpet is damp. There is a stain on the couch. The lighting in the room is reminiscent of a creepy horror flick. Half of the lights don't even work. We decided the smell and moisture in the room was just too much to handle, so we walked down to the front desk to ask to have our room changed. The woman at the front desk said before we switched rooms, she'd have to call her boss to double check that it was ok. Her manager was not surprised at ALL that we had requested to switch rooms - didn't even ask why.

We moved 2 doors down, only to find the same dumpy conditions we encountered in the first room. Home sweet home. The entire room was moist and the carpet was absolutely filthy - peeling up at the corners, fraying at the seams. The comforters, strategically enough, were brown - just the right color for hiding stains, burn marks and other filth. There was black mold on the walls - yes, MOLD - crawling its way up the wallpaper beginning at the baseboards. Stains on the mirrors, strange stains on the walls, stains stains everywhere. I refused to take my shoes off for the first 24 hours, and insisted on sleeping in sweatpants, with as little skin exposed as possible. I would have slept in a hazmat suit if I had one.

Later that evening before dinner, hanging out by the absolutely depressing, dingy pool and "spa" (a tiny hot tub with dirty water, stains and things floating in it) - we had to hang out outside, we couldn't fathom spending more time than necessary in the room - we FINALLY saw signs of life: another group was staying there! One of the men hung his head over the railing and said "hey there! we are so happy to see other people here - we have been joking that they are probably dumping dead bodies in the back somewhere!". The irony is - my family and I made that EXACT same joke just hours earlier.

After a few too many drinks that night (how ELSE were we expected to place our skin under those horrible bed linens) we fell asleep - only to wake up to find that we were all congested, sneezing, puffy-faced and coughing. The ONLY logical explanation - the black mold on the walls! We couldn't get dressed and leave the room fast enough. Upon getting into bed the night before, my sister and her husband (traveling with their 14 month old son) discovered sand in the sheets - all jammed down at the foot of the bed! Naturally, we figured the problem would be remedied when housekeeping came through. An hour and a half later we return to the room, check their sheets and find that their sheets had not been changed. On our way back out we stopped by the front desk and mentioned that the sheets were sandy, could housekeeping please come change the sheets on both beds. Do you know what happened next?! We were GIVEN a set of sheets, told to change them ourselves (housekeeping had left for the day - of COURSE, there were only 2 rooms in the whole place to clean) - and asked to bring the dirty sheets back to the lobby so they could throw them in the laundry! Um excuse me?

We frantically searched all afternoon for a place nearby that had 2 rooms available for the next 3 nights - no easy task at the start of Memorial Day weekend - and VERY annoying as it took time out of what was supposed to be a fun vacation. Luckily, we found something. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We threw everything into the car and peeled out on 2 wheels.

DO NOT STAY HERE! It's filthy and unfit for human occupancy! If this place caught fire and burned down, it would be the best thing to happen to them. Everything is old, moldy, wet and absolutely horrifically disgusting. Save yourself the money, time, aggravation and potential health issues. The manager responding to these reviews, saying the rooms are all recently renovated, is either lying through his teeth or is living on another (mold-covered) planet. Stay far, FAR away from this dump!

My daughter had the privilege to have her wedding on the beach in St. Augustine Florida over Memorial weekend this year, and she chose the Quality Inn & Suites on Beach Blvd. for the wedding party. We were blessed with an attentive staff and outstanding overall service and accommodations, under the leadership of Raj, the General Manager. In addition, this location provided easy access to the beach and a short drive to all the attractions and dinning in downtown St. Augustine.

Stayed for 2 nights, rented 2 rooms. Rooms were livable, nothing to "brag" about, but needed up dating and could have been a little cleaner. Maid service was nothing to praise. First night we used 2 of the very inexpensive glasses/cups, never got replaced. Bed was made, and got new/clean towels. Got 4 bath towels, but only 2 inexpensive glasses for our 2 night stay. Second night was locked out of room, they had cancelled our keys/card, had to go to office , no one there, had to wait about 20 minutes before office was staffed and had our keys "reprogrammed" so we could get in our rooms. Breakfast, well, we decided to go somewhere else !! Pool area needs lots of updating, and cleaning, second day, pool was scary, definitely they need a pool service, water was cloudy and all kinds of "crap" was left around and in the pool from the previous night's guest ? Someone should have been able to at least clean the pool area and the pool before opening it in the morning. Would I stay here again, definitely NOT, and was way OVER PRICED!! We did stay over Memorial Day week-end and made last minute reservations, but really.... way OVER PRICED for what they offered you !! Staff (when they were there, were OK ), but for what we paid, would have expected a lot more !! Definitely will shop around next time. Have stayed in St. Augustine Beach several times, and this has been our worst .

Room Tip: Look else where.

Well this was a one night stop on our trip and was interesting
The room needed a total renovation and a proper clean as we found a pair of knickers on the back of the bathroom door
Also there was a freight train track about 50yrds from our room
But the breakfast they served was excellent lots of choice

My husband and I travel to St. Augustine frequently for weekend get-a-ways and have stayed in a ton of hotels in the area. For the price, this one is by far the best! The room was clean and well equipped. We especially like the recliner instead of a hard chair. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My search for a great place for a weekend stay is over. I will be coming back here.
