“Clean & Comfy”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Stayed here for three nights while visiting St. Augustine and Amelia Island. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfy, the service is good, and the drinks at the bar are generous! I was a bit disappointed in the free breakfast. It was fair at best. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. I had a two queen bed suite, which I very much enjoyed!

Room Tip: I was in room 419. It has a lovely view of the pool.

OK - so we've stayed here before, about 2 years ago. At that time, the room smelled of an awful musty/moldy odor. Our trip was only 2 nights and we stuck it out. This year we returned and booked 6 rooms for a family reunion. Again - rooms smelled awful (mold/mildew). On check-in we complained to the front desk staff who said that they would be up with a key to a new room right away. Needless to say, no one ever appeared. Had to go downstairs from the 5th floor and they looked at us like "woops - hee hee, we forgot" - no apology. The new room smelled 10 times worse than the original one. We stuck it out again in the initial smelly room. The next morning I went to the front desk to ask that my son and his wife (checking in that day with a baby), get a "decent" and non-smelly room. This led to discussing the condition of our room AND the rooms of our other family members (one left a complaint note at the front desk that morning) which were essentially ALL musty (like sleeping in an unfinished basement).

I have to say - the day desk people went out of their way to accommodate us - they apologized profusely for the condition of the rooms and the attitude of the afternoon/evening staff. A maintenance person took me room to room on the 6th floor until we found acceptable rooms to move all of our family in to. They even upgraded one family member (who clearly had the worst room of all) to a large suit. The manager, front desk and maintenance person were wonderful. I am sure that they have to deal with this on a regular basis due to the conditions of the building, however they were gracious and friendly. The remainder of our 5 day trip was uneventful other than ......

It is clear that they are not putting any $$ in to the facility as they intend to close it down and make it into an assisted living center. Yes - it needs a good overhaul. The sign lights are half out, the decor has seen its day, the furniture in the rooms is stained, hot water takes 15-20 minutes to reach your room (then it is scalding), hair dryers don't work, TV remotes don't work (most rooms do not have flat screen TVs) etc.. However, the facility is clean, the grounds are well maintained, breakfast is well done and the indoor and outdoor pools are certainly a plus.

The next closest hotel is the Renaissance at the World Golf Village - Cost is $100.00 more per night there for a basic room. When you need 6 rooms for 5 days, the extra cost would be out of the question. Would I stay at the Comfort Suites again? - likely NO. I hear there is a wonderful Hampton Inn a few miles down I-95. A little less convenient, but quality control is important in a hotel chain.

Maybe Comfort Suites should consider maintaining/updating a few of the 6 hotel floors instead of piecing together a full 6 floor hotel without sinking any $$ in to it.

Room Tip: Get a room on the lake side - best to ask to see the room first and get a good sniff. If you are un...

We stayed at this property on May 16 to attend the "Riding Into History" event at World Golf Village. Our biggest concern was safety for a valuable motorcycle left out front. We were assured that security from World Village roamed the area so we did leave the motorcycle out front. Everything was safe.
The room was clean, well stocked with towels and was quiet. We stayed here last year and it was very noisy so we were worried but this was a pleasant experience. We found all the staff to be very friendly and we did stop for a drink at the bar before dinner and had some good fun with other guests.
We will stay there next year.

Wow. To say this property should not earn your business is an understatement. At 1:30 in the morning, I awoke to the sight of two people standing in our room looking at my young son. As you can imagine, it was terrifying. I jumped out of bed and was ready for a war. Somehow, the front desk had given some couple looking to hook up keys to our room. Then, the manager "forgot" to respond to the issue for a week until I contacted Pacifica, the owner of the hotel. They gave me a halfhearted response "we wish this didn't happen but people make mistakes and it sometimes does." I made a mistake not latching the door, but I will DEFINITELY NOT be making the mistake to stay at this property again. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague.

Have stayed here dozens of times over the last fifteen years, and found it to be a good balance of price and room quality. The hotel is showing its age in some respects, with furniture in some rooms needing to be replaced, and some areas of wallpaper and carpeting needing attention. The breakfast is decent, the staff is responsive, and the location near I-95 is convenient. It's value would be higher if repairs are made.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake rather than the parking lot.

first, they are not located at World Golf Village. they are on the other side of the interstate. the first room we were booked in we were surrounded by people with dogs. not very peaceful. the next room they put us in did not have hot water we contacted the front desk. we were advised to let it run for a little while, after 20 minutes I gave up. the third room had a bad fan noise. But it was the best of the 3 rooms. We will never stay there again.
On the bright side the breakfast was really good.

Room Tip: If you are wanting to stay at a hotel find a different one. There are some in world golf village tha...

We stopped at this hotel on the way to Disney. We have stayed here a couple of times in the past with no problems. However, it seems the hotel repairs and maintenance are being neglected. We were shocked when we took our children to the indoor pool. Part of the ceiling is torn out and mold is visibly present. Our room also smelled musty. Overall, the hotel did not seem clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful, but based on the current condition of the hotel, we recommend driving to another location.
