I have stayed in many hotels but none as cold , noisy, uninviting, smelly as this monster. The pillows smelled greasy the room had a stench I did not even recognise (damp, mould, stale etc.
It looks on first impressions a wonderful and restful hotel. Do not be fooled. Its cold all the way to the core. The staff are as good as it gets even 90% of them as cold and frosty as the hotel. We tried 3 rooms and all had the same white noise droning through the room 24 hrs a day. Its is designed as an open floor to ceiling up to the 9th, with open landings, 2 x water falls and as many coke and ice machines as they can put on the landing spaces next to each room. You have very limited control of the AC in 2 of the 3 rooms we tried. The noise from the bar, reception, landings, outside, below and above the room is unbearable unless you are hard of hearing. We wore ear-plugs and still the sound came through. The tea-coffee etc was the poorest of any hotel in the world. The water was disgusting to drink. You could call room service for a jug of hot water! The toilet was even to low to the floor by my short hight, it is almost for a child. We booked it via a very good website as in Bookings .com. Its not what I would call for the restful vacation people out there. We had drove from Orlando to this resort to play golf that fine. Its the hotel its self that I would not recommend to my worst enemy. The price for the room and the whole stay was $539.00 for 3 nights including breakfast. It was so cold in the breakfast area that I had to get back to the room. I have no desire to ever return to the hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you check the room before you sign in. Or book a different hotel and just play golf there.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay. I am so sorry that you did not find our resort to be calming and restful as many of our hotel guests do. We are an atrium resort which allows our waterfalls and glass ceiling to be viewed from all floors. Many of our guests enjoy the openness of our lobby as it allows for wonderful sunlight so that you may enjoy reading and relaxing on our sofas. I understand you tried a few rooms before settling on your last one but they fell short of your expectations due to their locations near the atrium. It is my hope that you will allow us the opportunity to have you as our guest again so we may regain your confidence by providing the kind of service and accommodation you deserve.

Sincerely,

Ashleigh B.

This is a golf resort hotel that your apperance and money spent makes a difference on room selection to treatment from some staff members.

There are rooms that has oily smell coming from restaurant , dark windows and has concrete view with and a portion on golf course to beautiful pool view for those who paid well.

Had staff treating like a cop to very polite and nice but towards the night we had very intense staff members after many observations (5years) so arrive during afternoon.

Your look and money paid makes a difference . There is no room for those who had a deal versus plenty off room for $300 a night customers.

Had AC problems constantly especially at restaurant side lower class side of hotel. Do not sleep unless you are sure ac/heater works otherwise you may wake up with swollen tonsils.

This is not a social place but inside environment is calming with water view. If you are in second floor close to pool you mat get free internet but water is disturbing for those with light sleep.(you get used to like living by train station)

Always have your id with you if you do not look rich otherwise when you lse your key navigators -luggage carriers- will treat you like a cop stay go stop !

If you are a true golf lover this is the place you should spend with pool view if not there are better places close to St Augustine downtown. It takes about 20 min to attractions.

Room Tip: Anywhere other than imax or pool view is a bad bad choice. It is not worth staying with restaurant s...

This was our second stay at the Renaissance, and it was just as delightful as the first!

The lobby atrium is striking with a festive feel and allows for both a lot of activity and private space. Comfortable lounge chairs are set among atrium’s tropical plants and waterfalls. It is a wonderful atmosphere in which to people watch - during our week’s stay there was both an Indian wedding and a Turkish studies conference. And, as an added bonus, one can relax in comfort and enjoy the lobby’s free wifi – they even have small carrels set here and there.

The rooms are high quality. Like last time, the comfortable bed and beautiful view caused us to hang out in the room longer than necessary. Our housekeeper, Blanca, greeted us cheerfully everyday as she quickly and efficiently tidied and sorted our room. The Villagio, the hotel’s restaurant, serves fabulous food, and Jessica, our waitress, was bright and bubbly.

A guest’s overall experience rides on the front desk, and Ashley and Theresa made our stay first class. They took great care of us from check-in to check-out, efficiently and cheerfully accommodating our special requests. This is a hotel with a lovely combination of friendly and hard working staff, great ambiance, and excellent quality.

We are at the hotel now and not enjoying the stay. Check in was not as smooth as we are used to.
We chose this hotel due to the advertisement of the "village" golf and shopping. Not a good choice on our part. After 6 attempts to make golf reservations prior to our visit, directly with the course and the consigner, we ended up going on line and making them thru the golf now. Both the course and the hotel did return calls after 5 days after contacting them! This should not be difficult for a world golf resort! Upon arrival we were led to a room on 4th floor right off the elevators and the balcony view and noise of the roof with all the air compressors etc. not so romantic for our anniversary getaway. Got out the luggage rack to find broken, reported it, and we are now here 2 nights and still never replaced. Flushing of toilets take about 3 flushes.... No a good feeling that it might not flush and overflow. Yesterday after a wet golf game, we were resting mid afternoon and disrupted with announcement of fire in building. Have to go down 4 flights of stairs. No problem. Grabbed car keys and went for drive, to return to 240 band students having just arrived and overrunning the lobby. Fire was apparently something to do with the 2elevators on one side, leaving only 2elevators for 9 floors. Terrible lines to get on elevator to room. Went to take stairs and the stairs only lead down and outside, not up! Back in line. Waited about 20 minutes before one of the bell men decided to open one go the stair well doors and moved people up the stairs......some students had very large heavy suitcases making that a slow process. Decided yo eat at hotel, knowing the prices were outrageous ( buffet breakfast was $35 that morn), but caddy shack was overrun by these students so that option was closed. Nice dinner and drinks for 2 came to $126 with tip. Little high. Went back to room to relax and the halls were full of constant yelling running screaming from 9 to midnight. Going to see if we can check out today and continue south to next destination a day early. We will never return to thus hotel.

Room Tip: Go for a highest room for less ac noise and definitely away from elevator since the door have about...

This place is still nice, but rooms are small. The atrium is extremely pleasant. The gal that handled our check was kinda snooty, but checking out w/ Kathy was great. We stayed with another couple, they got a balcony room, we didn't. Same price.

Nice to walk around the grounds.

Food prices outrageous, especially for breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for balcony room. We paid same price as another couple, they got one, we didn't. You are rig...

Great property. Rooms are in good shape. Staff is excellent, very friendly and helpful. Not a lot of dining options and what they have is the typically over-priced hotel fare (I did not eat on property so I am commenting on menu not actual food).
