Hotel was great, especially for a golfer. We are not golfers and found the location to be too far from the historic area or the beach areas of Ft Augustine. The property seemed vacant with few people around; stores and resturants closed.

Thank you for staying with us. The resort's beautiful golf course location in St. Augustine does put us outside of the historic district and we understand many guests want to see everything while visiting this amazing city. We do run a shuttle into downtown St. Augustine for our guests and I hope that you were able to explore the parts of the historic district that you came to see. Thank you again for choosing the Renaissance Resort.

This is a great place to stay. Beautiful, very clean, lots to do. They offer a shuttle to Historic Downtown St. Augustine, FREE!! It is definetly a first class resort. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. I am planning a return trip in the fall.

Room Tip: The rooms that have a balcony are the best.

I have been working at The Players Championship for 16 years, and have stayed all around the area. The Marriott is the best! The professionalism with which I was treated is inspiring. The accommodations and amenities fit my needs perfectly (food, gym, etc). Start to finish, the experience is first class.

With so many places to choose in St. Augustine, this hotel is a real find. Not in the center of town but right by the golf hall of fame. Shuttle service to town center, friendly welcoming staff. The most amazing hotel restaurant Villagio. Fresh local produce make this an exquisite dinning experience. Duck confit, red snapper, Neptune Caesar salad, all wonderfully created. A true unexpected culinary delight. Great wine menu to accompany delicious food. Fabulous and knowledgable wait staff, one of the best hotel dinning experiences we have had.

Room Tip: Request a high floor for a great view of the golf courses.

We found the Marriott to be very accommodating for our meeting and week-long stay here in late April. The weather was fantastic and the staff was always customer-service minded and helpful. However, being on a large, golf resort, I was surprised there were only two places to eat within easy walking distance and the resort shop was awfully thin on room-worthy snacks. Without a rental car, you were hostage to the comfortable shuttle into town at 30 minutes one-way and only dispatched three times a day. A cab into St. Augustine will nab 60 dollars round trip with tip and if you wanted to explore the area, this isn't your resort. If you do find yourself here, the rooms are small and somewhat dated. The golf course is pristine but the hotel could use a bit of updating. We were unfortunately on the third floor just 10 feet above the conference area roof so a very bright, white paint greeted us each morning with the sounds of the air conditioning compressors humming. Not the view we hoped for. One light was burned out over the toilet and housekeeping never seemed to notice. What's more, while our beds were made each day and fresh towels left each afternoon, we had to constantly ask for coffee, creamer and sweetener. Aren't the staff supposed to restock everything each day? Overall, this was a pleasant stay and I wouldn't have anything detrimental to say but on a return trip to Jacksonville, I'd look for something closer to either JAX or St. Augustine. If a putter isn't your favorite implement, look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with a balcony that overlooks the course or pool.

We returned to this hotel ten years later, and found the lobby and dining areas are modern, clean, and eye pleasing. The rooms on the other hand are showing their age. Our room had a leaking toilet (stained and mold growing around the base of the toilet), tub/shower curtain bar had an extremely sharp edges near the ends of the bar, bathroom light fixture was damaged, and carpet looked stained and worn out. Golf is the main purpose of staying at this hotel, and it doesn't disappoint. Having easy access to the well maintained golf courses makes this choice logical if that is your main priority. For us it's both - having good accommodations with great golf which makes a winning combination...this hotel did not meet our expectations.

Room Tip: Golf Course views are not always what they claim. Ours was a partial view.

I was at the WGV for a conference and was impressed with the facility overall. Everyone was extremely kind and helped in many ways. We had a very large group in the bar most nights. It was disappointing they didn't fluctuate their hours to accommodate the needs of the customers. I was also surprised the spa was several miles away rather than on site. I do appreciate all they did to help us throughout the week.
