“nice place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

First of all the hotel was grand, the grounds were immaculate and the staff were extremely friendly. This resort is however a bit secluded and there aren`t any restaurants in the immediate area except the gift shop and the local convenience store`s Subway both of which closes at ten p.m..Room service is available until one a.m.. The room could have been aided by a microwave but, it had a small refrigerator. The pool at the time was under attack by the younger children at nine p.m. and it closes at ten p.m. sharp. They really should have some time designations for children up to teenagers and parents should be in attendance. If you stay here and don`t care for room service stop at a grocery store in Saint Augustine for snacks that don`t need to be heated. Besides being away from the more touristy areas, if you don`t mind the short drive, even without a continental breakfast is still the best accommodations in the area.

We checked in at the Renaissance for one night around 10pm on a Friday to enjoy St. Augustine on the Saturday. The mobile check in offered through the Marriott app is fantastic. I walked up to the desk, showed my ID, was handed keys and right up to the room. Perfect for a late night check in.

The rooms were near each other (which was specifically requested, but was a nice touch), they were clean and were appointed. Having a refrigerator in a higher end hotel (ie above a Fairfield Inn, etc) is a great feature!

We roamed around the property a bit at night before crashing after a long day.

The BEST part about this hotel is the free parking and the shuttle into downtown St. Augustine. Make sure to call ahead and reserve as they use 15-passenger vans; I can see those filling up quickly at peak tourist time. It's about a 25 minute ride, but is super convenient as parking downtown can be horrendous. If you are staying for more than just a night or two, and are hoping to get off property for any reason, walking is not an option. But there is plenty within a 15 minute drive that is more reasonably priced dining options.

Overall, the hotel is perfectly priced and was exactly what we needed for our one night St. Augustine adventure. We will definitely stay here again if returning to St. Augustine.

I'll make this simple. Incredibly clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Amazing grand lobby. Nice restaurant. Friendly, helpful employees. Probably the nicest hotels I've stayed in in Florida. The only downside is that it is about 15 minutes from the ocean.

Room Tip: I don't think you could go wrong with any room here. It is that nice.

Stayed at the Renaissance World Golf Village over the weekend, and was extremely pleased with the resort and the guest relations of the staff. Besides having grounds that are breathtaking, and beautiful, crisp rooms and bathrooms, everywhere I went I was greeted with warmth and smiles from staff at every level, from the moment I arrived with the valet, to the housekeepers, to the front desk, and even the Starbucks lady. What a pleasure! Would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room overlooking the lake. The view is to die for...

What a wonderful two night stay. Although I planned my trip in July; and in the hottest State on the East Coast... Zero disappointment. Outstanding service from the wait staff, concierge, front desk and house keeping!! Thank you for a memorable and historical vacation in St Augustine. Your hotel is above a 5 Star and worth every penny. Sure hope the village shops open again, so your facility prospers year round... you certainly deserve too!!

Room Tip: Gorgeous views on the upper levels.

I have stayed here once a month for the last four months. This hotel has everything you may need for a stay. I have found more amenities like q-tips, cotton balls, and wonderful, Aveda products. The hotel does need some detail work-yellow jacket nests around windows, spider egg sacs all around balcony doors on the walls, roof tile repair to start) but I find the staff accommodating, helpful, professional and just plain friendly. The lobby is really lovely and has a beautiful fountain feature. There may be a few things that need attention to detail but those are seasonal and easily remedied. The hotel is very quiet on the floors I have stayed the sixth floor was the best. Be sure to get a room with a window/balcony that faces west. This is because the room I had on the 6th floor that faced the bar area was not able to keep the late evening cacklers from entering our room...this would be the people enjoying themselves in the bar voices carried. I meant to mention a screen coming down to keep the voices in the bar after a certain hour could 1. keep the bar open later and 2. keep the guests comfortable in their rooms.
Overall, I love this hotel. I have stayed at several in St Augustine and find the grounds gorgeous and the location central to what I need to do. The addition of a shuttle operated by
hotel staff is a great idea. We have eaten at the bar three times, the restaurant once, and the breakfast at the restaurant. I would suggest the bar and its limited menu if you choose to eat there. The hotel staff can contact me directly if they'd be interested in feedback. I have plans to be there again in a few weeks. I continue to go back because its comfortable which is what most of us want...a comfortable, quiet space to refresh for the next days activities. Give this place a try. It is family friendly, has free self parking, beautiful, gorgeous grounds to explore, and a Starbucks.

Room Tip: All rooms come with fridges, some with microwaves.
