There is nothing fancy about Sandbar Bill’s. Just good drinks and good food right on the beach – literally, you are about two steps from the sand here.
My family and I loved this place and ate here multiple times while staying at the Bon-Aire. Food service is all from the bar. You tell the bartender your order, they yell your name when it is ready. You pick it up and find a table on the patio. I read other reviews complaining about this, so if you are looking for table service… go somewhere else.
Over multiple visits, my family had the cheeseburger, the chop salad, the club sandwich, the hot dog and other assorted grill foods – I think somebody had a chicken sandwich at some point as well at some point. All the food was good and HUGE. I’m a big eater and left stuffed each time. The chop salad is particularly large, served on a platter and piled high. It was enough salad for several of us. The burgers are the star attraction however – big and juicy with thick, gooey slices of cheese. Frozen drinks were slightly pricey, but they are large and strong, served in big styrofoam cups.
On Sunday afternoons from 2-4 there is a steel drum band which was a nice touch as well. The clientele is a mix of locals, hotel guests and visitors from other resorts. It’s a popular little spot, especially at sunset and someplace we will visit again if/when we make it back to St. Pete Beach.
