“Great Location, Hotel & find.”
Reviewed 18 March 2012

After being let down by a hotel in Sarasota, we drove up to St Pete's Beach early evening & found this hotel. They only had 1 room available & this room had only just been upgraded. the room itself was very small compared to other rooms we have stayed in, but it was spotless & quiet (though it faced out onto the main road). because there was only 2 of us, the size was no real issue as we are usually out of the hotel for most of the day. In the morning I ventured out and walked around the hotel area. I was blown away by the rear of the place, it has everything for a family, but it also looks out over the gulf & you just walk through a gate onto the beach, which is a superb beach. There are plenty of dining options nearby, I definitely recommend Silo's, we both enjoyed the best meal we have ever had, the steak just melts. The staff themselves run this as a family hotel & you just join the family, nothing is too much trouble which is the service I think we all want, when staying at a hotel. Parking can be a bit tight, but that is more about inconsiderate guests than a small car park. We stayed for 3 nights & have no complaints about this hotel, just good memories.

We spent one night while our seasonal rental in Madeira Beach was being prepared. This is an excellent property with a beautiful pool beachside. The rooms have been updated and were very clean. We would definitely go back and would consider a seasonal rental there.

well, I know that everyone's perception is different. And, on any given day, things can be great for some people & bad for others. But....I was disappointed in the Plaza Beach. I know that with small hotels, choices are limited, but, I think that saying they offer King beds when probably 4 rooms out of all have them is crappy. They of course are trying to cram as many people in a room as possible, but, I didn't like the Queen beds. The room had a moldy/musty smell, that I think may have been the A/C unit, not sure. I bought some air fresheners. Yes, the bathroom is VERY small, but ok. The door frame next to the tub was molded & needed replacement-from constant water exposure. Also, GENERAL Cleaning improvements including the SHOWER HEAD & faucets/drain closures need addressed. USE some LIME AWAY. They are clogged, corroded, & stuck due to mineral buildup! YUCK! Also, I know it cheaper to Not have carpeting, BUT, the rooms felt hollow, & unfriendly/uninviting without any carpets. At least you could put it in the living/bed areas. Plus, I'd have to think it would help cut down on the "Loud Floor Noises" for the downstairs units, for which there was a large memo posted on the refrigerator regarding. The Floral bedspreads & PLAID couch were no attractive. Please, get rid of the outside lights(rope lights) UP along the roof line b/c the LIGHT SHINING IN ALL AROUND THE CURTAINS AT NIGHT make the place feel like a Cheap Motel along I-95. I could not sleep! Maybe put the lights down lower, along the hand railing. The a/c sounded a bit like a lawnmower when it would kick on. Lots of little things just added up to disappointment. And, please, get rid of the Old, Torn, Rotten putt-putt golf 'carpeting'. It looks TERRIBLE. Just plant some real grass, and make flower beds! The Beach here is very nice, soft, wide and clean. That was Good! Overall, I think this place is best if you are Older, want quiet & very plain. I personally do not think it was worth the $$ paid. I have stayed on other Florida beaches w/beachfront balconies to overlook the pretty water & sand for less cost.

Room Tip: the end rooms FACING the beach, 2nd floor! (your only chance of really SEEING a sunset or the water...

A very well run, family owned beachfront hotel. Has lots of long time winter residents so it can be hard to get a room, but it you can, book it! Can be hard to book for short visits.
You can walk out the front right onto a very large white sand beach where you can stroll for miles. Has a nice heated pool, shuffleboard court and corn hole court.
Staff and other residents are very friendly and helpful. Can get good tips about where to eat at Happy Hour.
Rooms are modern, recently remodeled, and very functional.
All in all, I plan to stay here the next time we are in St Pete Beach.

Room Tip: Odd number rooms are not on parking lot side and have less traffic.

We were there in Feb 2012 for 5 nights. On the plus side, it was clean, the staff was friendly, and the beach location was great. The pool is pretty nice and you can tell they have put some money into the place recently.

On the less than ideal side, it looks more like a motel 6 than a "resort". Lots of neon lights and small rooms with exterior entrances. We were disappointed when we first arrived (first impression). The beds were worn and uncomfortable, the couch had a piece of plywood under the cushion making it feel more like a park bench. Not things you expect in a "resort".

So it wasn't horrible, but I think there are better values in the area.

Room Tip: Upstairs is best if you can handle the stairs.

Just returned from four nights here. Check in was in the afternoon but we got there at ten a.m. and were told we could leave luggage in office and they would call when room was ready--we were in our room by 11:30. Staff was great and the guests staying there were super nice. The motel offers a happy hour with wine and beer every afternoon so everyone staying got to know each other. Many guests have been coming here for 15 to 20 years and stay up to 3 months.Great location and a very at home feel.
