We had never been to St. Petersburg Beach and wanted to get away from a miserably cold, long winter. After web research we settled on Plaza Beach Hotel, based on reviews. It more than lived up to all the good reviews! We had a gorgeous, full-on gulf view from our balcony and the unit was fully equipped and spotless! The happy hour in the office allowed us to meet a number of very nice folks, many returning after numerous visits. The beach was great! We definitely would return again, hopefully with better weather as it was rainy, windy and cold the entire time we were there. We had a 12 hr. drive to return home, so we really bummed about the weather! We were so disappointed in the weather, but enjoyed our visit to a great area and a very nice hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There seemed to be a number of activities - miniature golf, shuffleboard, corn hole, etc. for families and a cute little play area for very young children, in addition to the pool.

Room Tip: We were in 216, a perfect location!

Overall we had an enjoyable stay at this hotel. The location and set up of the property is really what makes this place. You walk right out of your room to the pool and just past the pool is the beach. Very convenient and hassle free. The front desk staff are also very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit on the small side for a week long stay - big for a "hotel" room but small if you are used to renting a suite or condo, but the full size fridges are great! The hotel is very clean and well-maintained. They advertise a beach bar, which we were hoping to utilize, but it wasn't open when we were there, although it seemed under construction? Be prepared that the structure and grounds of this hotel are reminiscent of a "motel" (think Motel 6, etc.) - parking just outside your door, outside entrances, etc. so don't expect anything fancy. We never went to the "happy hour" but it appeared to be just two kegerators (one for beer and one for wine) in a VERY small gathering room. The wifi was just okay - at times we couldn't even use it because it was so slow. Although I wouldn't return - it just wasn't my "cup of tea" - I would recommend it to someone looking for a somewhat inexpensive hotel right on the beach. They certainly make the hotel the best it can be given the type of hotel it is. One other note - if they recommend Gigi's restaurant, an Italian place just a few doors down - RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION - this was the absolute worst restaurant with the rudest staff we have ever been to - food was horrible and overpriced and everyone from the hostess to the server was extremely unfriendly. Make sure you go to one of the two places on Pass-a-Grille beach (Hurricane or Brass Monkey) for a sunset cocktail - the views are amazing.

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay and for mentioning that you enjoyed our property and location. Our rooms are efficiency suites, so they aren’t quite as large as a private condo, but do comfortably fit families or groups of up to six. Our tiki area is undergoing a renovation and should be opening soon. I’m sorry if you had a bad experience at Gigi’s restaurant. We are not affiliated with them, but as locals we do eat there and recommend them often. I appreciate you saying that even though it’s not for you, that you would recommend our hotel to others. Your personal preference may be a larger resort with lots of bars and restaurants on site, but you will miss out on the personal service provided in our family-owned and operated boutique resorts.

This was our second stay at the Plaza Beach Resort. We met up with our parents who were already there and spent a week together. Our cab fare from the St. Petersburg Airport was $45, this varies amongst different cab companies This hotel is located perfectly, right on the beautiful white sand beach of St. Petes! It is a short walking distance to great restaurants (Gigi's, Crabby Bills) and grocery stores (Publix & Walgreens). We had fantastic pizza at Gigi’s and Papa John’s (delivery was cheap for this hotel) and the coconut shrimp at Crabby Bill’s is amazing! We had an awesome pancake breakfast for Shrove Tuesday at the nearby Dolphin Beach Resort. The owners of this hotel are very hands on and have many repeat customers. We especially LOVED sitting in the new beach furniture in the late afternoons, soaking up the last of the sun. The weather was fantastic and 7 seven days went by way too fast! We will definitely be returning to this hotel again....hopefully for a longer period of time! :)

Room Tip: I would highly recommend the parking lot side of this hotel, which means a view of the ocean!

We spent six nights at the Plaza Beach Hotel and we were thrilled with the experience. The room was sparkling clean and very comfortable. The kitchenette was very convenient and stocked with all the dishes, glasses and utensils we needed. We used it for breakfast and lunch. The location was wonderful. It was right on a beautiful beach and close to restaurants and shopping. The staff was friendly and helpful. I prefer the ocean to pools, but the pool looked very nice. We definitely want to stay there again and highly recommend it.

We were visiting from Sanibel island so I was looking for a resort on the beach, with a view of the ocean. We reserved one of the beachfront rooms. We got room 117 which was a very nice room, the view was nice ,but being ground floor it wasn't exquisite but was nice enough. The weather didn't cooperate so we didn't get to sit on the patio for long, it was raining on us. I very much enjoyed the wine at happy hour. I also took advantage of the miniature golf holes, it was five holes but it was still challenging. There is a nice pool, shuffleboard and corn hole games by the beach. On the beach there were quite a few, plenty, adirondack chairs

This boutique hotel is overall great. The location is perfect. You are steps away from the beach, and steps away from your room. I love having a kitchenette, where you can keep your drinks and some food cold. The staff is friendly. The rooms and area around the hotel is clean. The hotel is quiet. No music, or bar, or one close enough that it would be overheard.

My only complaint would be that the wifi did not work the entire week we were there. If I went outside my room to a certain spot, I could connect at times. Even then, it was very slow and you had to always re-connect. I found it to be too much of a pain I just gave up. I did contact the front desk about it but it wasn't worth spending hours trying to get it working. I ended up using free wifi when we were out at other places that offered it.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone of any age. We really enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your review and for staying with us. I’m glad you enjoyed our peaceful atmosphere. I apologize if there was an issue with our free wifi. When you contact our front desk for help, they give you a specific technical support number for our guests. They will direct you through fixing the problem and it usually takes less than five minutes. I hope to see you again soon!

This was our first time staying at the Plaza Beach Hotel. We were making a quick trip up to the Tampa area for a concert and for a boat trip to Egmont Key. We arrived early in the day about 1:00 pm and checked in just to get a parking pass to use the facilities until our room was ready. It turned out our room was ready and we were able to check in. When we went up to our room we noticed there were 2 queen beds, we were hoping for a king bed. We asked the lady at the desk and she said she had one king bed left, but the view of the gulf wasn’t as nice. We decided to forfeit the view for a more comfortable bigger bed. We did still see dolphins form our room which was an extra treat! The room was very nice inside. The bathroom isn’t large but its fine for a short vacation stay. The kitchenette was just perfect and there was a big refrigerator.

The property is nice. It’s not a huge hotel and that’s why we picked it. We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice and clean, wasn’t very busy. We did walk down to the beach for a little bit and enjoyed the colorful beach chairs.

We spent more time at the other two properties on the bay. We saw a lot of wildlife over at this property. It was a lot quieter then the beach resort which we liked. The pool is smaller over there but was warm and empty!

The hotel is very environmentally friendly which we really liked. It was perfect for our short stay. Everyone who we talked to that worked there was very friendly and accommodating. Publix is right across the street which is very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay. If we go back to the St. Pete area we will consider staying here in the future.

Room Tip: The rooms with the best view are the 4 that face the gulf. There are a few other rooms that have a...
