“Great staff but not a great experience”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

We stayed Memorial Day Weekend at the Outpost and during the 3 night stay, sleeping was almost impossible until after 3 a.m. We were in the "courtyard" area of rooms which was sandwiched between a bar full of rowdy patrons from noon every single day and some sort of party constantly going on over on someone's veranda at the hotel next door. I did like the smaller, more intimate feel of the space and the staff was very attentive, but that will never make up for the loud, drunken folks and the contstant sound of the bass from the speakers rattling the windows. I know it was a holiday weekend, but isnt there some sort of beach noise ordinance that should be enforced? I literally need a weekend away to rest up from my weekend away!

Room Tip: Don't get a Courtyard room.

Stayed 4 nights/5days in a standard room with my spouse and school age child. Next trip to St Pete Beach will book at an independent property instead and save myself some $. Like that the room had a fridge, microwave and sink-as the food and bevs on site are ridiculously overpriced. Most of the older staff were friendly. Younger beach staff seemed stressed and hurried. Happy hour was a joke (NA beer and "rum" punch without much-if any-rum). Found various inconsistencies between what was advertised on website and what staff told us. Best parts of this resort: beach access, parking and swimming pools. Room was also very clean, comfortable and quiet. Only inconvenience was walking over to sister resort Tradewinds to access the kids activity center.

Great location but average hotel. The marketing group advertised a "dolphin package" but apparently forgot to tell the hotel staff. They sent us all over the place to get tickets only to be continuously redirected elsewhere. Besides the cockroach in the room,it was relatively clean. The cleaning staff comes very early and gives you NO TIME after knocking before entering (and obviously can't hear well when u yell) so keep your extra lock on. Overall, not bad, great location, average hotel with average service and average to low value for your money.

We've stayed at this hotel on and off 15 times for about 30 yrs. They've almost completed an extensive refurbish which enhances the rooms and adds several amenities. We like the hotel because it feels small enough to be attentive to the guests and we like its position on the beach. Prices here have risen quite a bit over the years so it may be overpriced for the typical family. We'll probably keep returning because its so comfortable.

Victor, Kevin, Brittney, Patrick, Cissy, and Capt Tim this particular group of staff members made our trip a much better experience. They went above and beyond to make sure we were relaxed and enjoying ourselves. They were very personable and respectful. I will never stay anywhere else. This resort is so peaceful and aesthetically pleasing. I couldn't ask for a better group of people. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to visit this area.

This was our third time here, and the first since it became Guy Harvey Outpost. The location is fantastic and beach is gorgeous. The rooms are nice, and I really like that there's a kitchen where we can make our own healthy food after a week of not-so-healthy eating at Disney. The bed was comfortable as usual. We arrived early and were happy that they put a rush on our room so we could get in earlier than the usual check-in time, that was great. We received two complimentary drinks which was very nice, and two complimentary dolphin tours which we enjoyed. We love that there's an adult pool. We stay at this location instead of the Island Grand because that one has more kids. On this trip we noticed that there seemed to be a lot more children at this resort than we usually see (and we're always there the same week in May). Our room overlooked the main pool, and there were quite a few screeching kids (not just normal levels of noise) while we were making/eating food, so that made us turn the tv up. I really liked that they had live music this time for a few hours each evening, that was really nice. The free happy hour is a great addition too- house wine, house beer, or rum punch. Expect line-ups, but with other drinks costing over $9, it's worth it! Victor is a great bartender, and the other two aren't very cheery/friendly, even with tipping for each drink. We loved that they had NHL playoffs on a big screen on the patio, I wish we knew that before we wasted a night a Beef O'Brady's trying to watch it and having disappointing food... I'd add these things to the wish list though- better soundproofing (on the Friday night I couldn't fall asleep until close to 4am since the bedroom side was beside Toasted Monkey and there were MANY "woo girls" screaming well past last call, then people loudly returned to their rooms after 3:30am; all other nights I had a great sleep though) and if this resort were adults-only it would be a dream come true! The price is pretty steep unfortunately, even after the stay for 4 and get the 5th night free, but I guess that keeps certain undesirable guests (like drunken springbreakers?) away?
