“Information from an Owner of Suite #204 at Gulf Gate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2008

Gulf Gate resort is a 40 Unit individually owned, onsite managed, beautifully appointed condominium complex right on the Gulf of Mexico in beautiful St. Pete Beach, Florida. Its web site is www.gulfgateresort.com. It has excellent 1 and 2 bedroom suites averaging around 850 sq. ft. per suite.

I am the owner of a 1-bedroom Suite #204 at Gulf Gate Resort. Over the last several months I have taken the advise of customers and have cleaned all the carpets, replaced the appliances with brand new ones, replaced the bedding and the matresses and I plan to do more over the next 6 - 12 months.

Over the last couple of years a ton of work has been done to ensure a top quality stay at this resort condo location.

* We have a completely new onsite management team that are fabulous.

* We have assessed our rates and have made downward adjustments to be sure we are very competitive.

* Many Owners have made significant upgrades to their suite.

* Each Suite is owned by a different owner so each suite can be very different. So be sure to get pictures of your suite ahead of time so you get no surprises when you get there.

* We value customer feedback and act on any advise we receive from customers

To reach me for more information, please send an e-mail to westridge329@yahoo.com. I'd be more than happy to give you lots of pictures of the property and my suite as well as quote you on a rate.

Cheers and happy hollidaying !!

Over the past twenty years we have stayed at the Gulf Gate for one to two weeks a number of times. We visited again a few years ago and were very disappointed with the condo we were first given as it wasn't clean and seemed to need an upgrade in furniture. We were fortunate to be able to negotiate a change in condo and while still a little put off by what we saw in the first condo, we managed to put it out of our mind and continue on to enjoy our vacation. At that time we promised ourselves we wouldn't stay at the Gulf Gate again but several years later we ended up booking it again thinking we'd give it another chance and that surely things would be cleaner and upgraded by now. Unfortunately things were much worse. We were disgusted by the filthy walls in the condo we were assigned and the furniture and carpets were in terrible shape. We complained and were given another condo that, while an improvement from the first, wasn't overly impressive either. I actually bought bleach and cleaned mold off the wall in the bedroom and somehow managed to overcome the urge to vacate the place on the first night. This time we decided that we will never ever go back to the Gulf Gate. Mold was the final straw.

It's too bad that things have declined so much there, at least on the interior. On the outside, while looking a little dated, it wasn't too bad. The big plus about the Gulf Gate is it's easy access to the beach but it's within walking distance to a supermarket, drugstore, shopping and a movie theatre.

My family and I stayed at the Gulf Gate Resort from Dec. 26th through Jan. 2nd. We rented the property from the Vacation Rentals website through a private owner (apartment 204). I was pleased with the size of the unit and that they have excellent on-site management that does everything to keep the outside of the property looking very nice. The pool and and jacuzzi were spotless. I was disappointed that the inside of this particular unit wasn't as well-maintained, however. The mattresses on the beds should be replaced. We also thought that the carpeting should be cleaned or replaced. On the plus side there is a full sized kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher as well as a washer and dryer. The view from the balcony was lovely and we rarely had to use the air conditioning.
All in all, it was a pleasant stay. If the owner would take care of some routine maintanence, I believe that unit 204 could be magnificent.

I had a business trip in Tampa at the beginning of August. Typically I turn this into a long weekend by staying at St. Pete Beach. Normally my husband and I stay at the Don Cesar, but after our last disastrous (and expensive stay) there, we vowed never again. Enter the Gulf Gate Resort. I found them online. The pictures looked great and the rate we were quoted was amazing ($109 per night).

I have to admit after spending over $400 a night at the Don, I was a little concerned about what $109 might get us. Guess what, we had a wonderful time and felt really good about the value we received for our money.

We rented a one-bedroom partial gulfview condo. It was lovely. Brand new carpeting throughout. One and a half baths. It was clean, very well appointed, and we wanted for nothing. Publix is right across the street. It's easy to stock up on breakfast stuff and snacks for the full kitchen.

Seriously, I think we have a real "find" here. The building is right on the beach. The pool was small, but who cares? We didn't go to the beach to hang by the pool. We enjoyed every sunset with our toes in the Gulf. We didn't have mobs of people around either. It was one of the best trips we've taken in recent memory.

Do yourself a favor, check out the Gulf Gate Resort. You will not be disappointed.

  • Liked — Huge space with a balcony, for very little money.
  • Disliked — Nothing. It was all excellent.

Stayed here for 3 nights in a 1 bdrm- teens had bdrm we slept on pull out- more than comfortable- more than enough room. Didn't use pool- rather small and lots of chairs but with others in there- not a lot of swim space- okay if you just want to dip and get out or be on side of pool.
Property on beach and beach is very nice in that area.
Office people very nice. Would def stay again but for longer

  • Liked — lots of room, right on beach, clean and quiet

We are a family of four with an infant and a toddler. We stayed in a 2 br 2ba gulf/bay view room in May of 2006. The staff was wonderful- it really pays to book with a privately managed condo. The amenities are excellent including wd in room, small heated pool and direct beach access with a minimal walk. The management offers crib and high chair rentals for a very small fee and the crib was set up upon arrival. Although we wish this resort offered 3 br rentals, we will most likely return next year. Highly recommended.

Wonderful rooms, great for the whole family. We stayed in a gulf view, bay view 2 bedroom condo and enjoyed it. The pool area was great, some shade, some sun, just right. The only negative was the sleeper sofa. It was not fit for sleeping on. The idea was for my 77 year old Mother to use it but she had to use one of the single beds in the 2nd room and our 4 year old son had to sleep with my wife and me. The staff were very friendly and the other guests were really nice. With there only being 40 units you got to see the same people often and that was a great experience. Our 4 and 6 year old had a blast playing with the other children. Would definitely return.
